Best for career and fun

Remarks :

If anyone wants to go to heaven for 4 years, they are warmly welcomed here. The life is soo good here. I bet anyone that, it would be the best memories ever made.

Entrance Preview :

No, the entrance test is required. The selection is based on Tamilnadu state board Higher Secondary cutoffs. Basically, you need 195+ cutoff out of 200 to get into this college. I took 198.75 cutoffs to choose EEE stream, as I am interested and heard about the good lab facility and also Lathe, motor and pump manufacture industry attached Institute. Additional training in Electrical is given there every day. Anyway, the Mechanical department of PSG Tech is far best.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum generally focuses on strengthening your basics initially. Then it steps by step advance further. The lab training helps a lot in this. Besides the industry lectures every day, gives the students a better clarity in learning things. Each semester has minimum 4-5 subjects. And from 3 rd year, you are provided with 4 additional electives each semester out of which you can choose two with 3 credit score. You are allowed to NPTEL online course by IITs in order to skip the electives with 3 credits earned.

Internships Opportunities :

The internship is the best thing about this college. It has huge company tie-up than any other campus in India. Mainly the 5-year course Sandwich students must go for internship At least for 3 months. The industries could be their choice or the PSG Training Department will provide them. All the best companies like Schneider, Lapp Kabel, Caterpillar, ABB, L & T etc are got by them. They have a list of 100 industries and students are allowed to choose based on some constraints. And at least 3 students are given internships in abroad with stipend by the companies, which are arranged by PSG Training Department. I did my Internship at Lapp Cables, Bengaluru for 3 months.

Placement Experience :

The college has the best placement statistics. Almost 95% in a class who were opted gets placed. Nearly 200 companies visit every year and take a lot of students. The average salary package is 5 L/ A. The top is 22 L/A by Dikshaw. The top companies visiting here are Texas Instruments, Caterpillar, Siemens, ABB, HCL, and a lot of other companies in the stream of IT, Textile, Fashion Tech etc.

College Events :

The main event is the Intrams which is a cultural event. The other cultural events are Dramatic and Nebula. Dramatix would be conducted every month. The main technical events are Kriya and Shiksha. Lot students from other colleges come to participate in competitions. Other than this 16 clubs of PSG tech also conducts events frequently. Every week there will be at least 3-4 events for students.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Since PSG tech is a Govt aided institute, it has a very low fees structure. For Aided courses, the amount is 16000 for both semesters. Self-supporting courses it comes to 35000 and for the 5-year sandwich course, it comes to 53000 per year. The hostel fees would be 68000-82000 range based on the room allotted.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The College provides a lot of scholarships. Mainly the alumni of PSG tech provides them. Apart from that, caste-based scholarships, Government scholarships are also provided. I am availed with Prime Minister scholarship.

Campus Life :

The campus is the best. There is no gender ratio and the students are made free to communicate with each other. No dress codes. The extracurricular includes 16 clubs with NCC and NSS. The college is best for basketball and has a lot of state trophies. The departments conducted a lot of technical competition events and the frequency is 2-3 per month. The department of Robotics has a huge basement for Robotics lab which permits every student to access it and get new project ideas under any faculty. No race, language, religion bias are seen here. We are friends and more than that we respect fellow humans.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel has 3 very big playgrounds with basketball, Tennis court, cricket nets, volleyball ground etc. It also has Gym for students. The hostel rooms vary as 2 seaters, 3 seaters, 4 seaters. There are 7 big blocks with 3 big canteens for boys. The food is decent with the varying menu for every six months based on students interest. 3 times a week non-veg is provided. Hostel Day and Sem feast are celebrations in hostel. Every Saturday there would be a movie screening. The canteen has Both South Indian and North Indian variant.

Alumni/Alumna :

The senior students never indulge in ragging, rather than that they share ideas and guide us. They play with us, do mock interviews for juniors for their placements, get the company for internships and give ideas about each subject every year. We have got best alumni network. The SSN institute, HCL chairman Shiva Nadar, Mayilsami Annadurai ( ISRO) my department’s best alumni and other than that lot are in good position.

Exam Structure :

There are 3 internal tests for a subject. The best of 2 is taken into account leaving out one. The internal is of 50 marks out of which 25 marks written test, 10 Assignment presentation, 5 marks for 2 tutorial tests each and another 5 mark for club activities. The semester is for 100 marks which get converted to 50. Lab exams are conducted on a specified date and are flexible

Admission :

I got into PSG tech by Single window counselling conducted by Anna University Chennai mainly in the month of June. Now it is purely online based and students with high cutoffs could opt this college. Also the admission takes place through management. But with limited seats, and the donation to be paid is too high for a seat. Also Diploma admissions takes place every year with minimum 12 students per department.

Faculty :

The quality of faculties is outstanding. Many are graduated from Universities in abroad and IITs and NITs and Anna University. They are well qualified and student friendly. Most of them are currently doing their PH.D. courses and research in their domain, using which they also opt students for their current projects.

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.
