Course Curriculum Overview :
Based on my choices for the course in MNNIT I was getting into fundamental engineering branches of Mechanical / Electrical / Civil. I was more inclined towards Electrical Engineering hence I chose the same. Speaking of the faculty, they are great at teaching and are well qualified in their subjects. More focus was on theoritical part rather than matching with industrial requirements. Since MNNIT was a deemed university, so exams were held always on time and it was not so difficult to pass the exams.
Placement Experience :
Being among top 10 colleges of India excluding IIT's, college had a very good placement track record. In my batch itself, all 425 students were placed in companies during the final year of the college. Big companies like Microsoft, Yahoo too visited the campus. Also many navratna companies and PSU's also recruited from college.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
College internal scholarship program for underpriveleged was there. Also there was a reduced fees structure for the underpriveleged students. Also college provided ample campus job placement opportunities
Campus Life :
Life at campus was a great life long learning experience as you live whole day with friends and colleagues. College hosted various fests all round the year to keep you engage like annual festival "Culrav" is a week long fest where you can display your creative and artistic side. Then there is 3 day long annual Tech fest "Avishkar" where you can showcase and learn on the research and new things happening around you. For sports enthusiasts, annual sports meet will happen spanning a week where multiple events both indoor and outdoor will take place. College had a great library, sports facilities, gym too.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels were not a great place to live, as one would expect they were on the lines of how usually government properties are. Meals also weren't great and served basic food with basic taste.Hostels were really affordable with 10,000 per year including meals. Also hostels were part of college campus so you don't need to keep any conveyance.
Admission :
Admission was done based on the score of All India Engineering Entrance Exam. Choices were filled for desired colleges and desired courses. Also a predictive method would show your chances of getting admission(success rate) in particular college and specific course. MNNIT was ranked among top 10 colleges of India excluding IIT's, so this was my first choice.
Interview Experience :
Admission was based on the score of All India Engineering Entrance Exam which is multiple choice OCR based question exam. Exam consisits of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics multiple choice questions. Once a rank is generated after the results are out, an online counselling session is done where each person give their choices for institute and course the wish to pursue.
