  • Red tapism in some of the departmental or any formal work.
  • Affordability: being too expensive with respect to fee and other aspects.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The reason for choosing this course for me would be the immense attraction I feel towards fashion and Design. On average the faculty:student ratio would be 1:35 which I think is a very fine ratio. All the faculties on my campus or in my department specifically are very qualified and their teaching methods and different but nice. Since Design is sometimes subjective I believe faculties are very good at handling students and teaching them all equally. (exceptions are very rare) In one semester we have three submissions: mid-term, end-term, and end-term Jury. Mid-term and End-terms might get hindered sometimes because of any event but End-term jury happens timely. Exams are not very easy to pass, to be honest.

Internships Opportunities :

There are some brands which are owned by our own aluminizes in the city. So some get internship opportunities there as well. Else people have to move out of the city to get better internship opportunities. Students don't get any stipend if they are interning during their initial college years. But they get a stipend according to the market scenario if they're interning in their final year of college. Students do various projects like designing a collection, doing brand research, market research, etc while working in the industry as intern.

Placement Experience :

Fourth-year students are eligible to appear in campus placements. Companies who visit NIFT for campus placement are Titan, Boat, Blackberry, Aditya Birla Group, Reliance retails, FabIndia, etc Last year's highest package was 22 lpa offered to a student from the Fashion Communication department. The average package would go around 4.5 lpa. The percentage of students getting placement would be 90% My plan after getting the degree is to spend at least 2-3 years in the industry after getting a good company to work with.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The cost of study is very high according to me (coming from a middle-class family). First the free is comparatively higher than other central governmental or semi-government institutes. Apart from that, we need to buy stationery and things according to our departments which add the total amount apart from the living cost. There are two scholarships currently running on the campus. Sarthak (available to every student with some eligibility criteria), Udaan (available for students opting student exchange program with some eligibility criteria) Job assistance is the bare minimum but if the student is deserving he/she gets the assistance. Apart from that, we get an ample amount of internship opportunities.

Campus Life :

We have our annual fest called SPECTURM which generally happens in the month of february. In campus we have a full-fledged and nice library with access to some digital books and magazines as well. In classrooms, we have digital projectors and a computer system including a speaker system. The infrastructure is comfortable. The campus holds almost every major sports activity. We get to showcase our sports abilities in the annual fest Spectrum and an inter-nift competition which is called CONVERGE (which happens in December every year) We have 4 clubs on campus that are run by students namely SAP club, CULTURAL club, LITERARY club, and SOCIAL club.

Admission :

All the details regarding entrance, fee structure, eligibility, etc can be found on the NIFT official site (nift.ac.in) Eligibility: The student should have completed 12th from any recognized board Students must be aged 24 or younger, etc. Students can fill out the application form through the official website in online mode. The application fees can be paid using debit/credit card or net banking. Details of reservation are available on the official website. Improvement: The display of information on the website can be improved.

Other Applied Colleges

Amity University | Bachelor of Design [B.Des] (Fashion Design)

Fee was higher and I consider NIFT as better option.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I am interested in fashion designer field and and faculty student ratio is good here. This college have both full time and guest faculties for the college. The full time faculties are great at their parts. They are helpful even after the college hours also as they have provided their contact information on various platforms so that we can clear our queries with them anytime. Exams were held on time every semester.
