Course Curriculum Overview :
LSM is a course that draws crucial management lessons from all liberal subjects and tries to draw relevance in the present business scenario. It is a relatively new course and I am part of the 4th batch. The batch size was increased from 39 to 53 last year. The batch is a diverse cohort with students coming from all regions, academic backgrounds, and specializations. It helps in gaining perspectives from fields that we have not been a part of ourselves. The faculty offers wholesome pedagogical lessons through case studies, presentations, and simulations. Group assignments in every subject help in peer learning and collaborating with different mindsets. There is a weighted assessment of class participation, periodic quizzes, assessments, and exams in a term.
Internships Opportunities :
Companies in all domains visit the campus for Summer Placements. Some of these companies are HUL, P&G, Goldman Sachs, EY, Kearney, Asian Paints, Nestle, Marico, Loreal, Ola, Reliance etc. The roles were offered in consulting, strategy, marketing, HR, sales, IT&Analytics, etc.
Placement Experience :
Placements happen at the campus. More than 100 companies visit each year and offer roles across domains. Campus Placements happen in 3 phases - Summer Placements, Lateral, and Final Placements. The summer placement drive is held in the First trimester. The institute has mandated an 8-week internship to graduate to 2nd year. Some of the companies visiting the campus include Deloitte, EY, PWC, Nomura, J&J, HUL, Asian Paints, Loreal, Myntra, Flipkart, Amazon, Ola, Reckitt, etc.

Scholarships are offered to students from EWS, SC, ST, and OBC category students through various government initiatives and CSR policies of large corporations. The campus also offers summer placement and final placement opportunities to all students. More than 100 companies visit the campus each year to offer roles in multiple domains.
Campus Life :
Life on Campus is a roller coaster. It tests you and prepares you but at the same time, there are a lot of fun activities to look forward to. The college offers students to be a part of various clubs, committees, and interest groups. Campus life is student-led and all events are led, conducted, and managed by the students themselves. Each committee hosts its annual event, Echoes, Nostalgia, Horizons, Backwaters, Calicut Marathon, Clash of Titans, and many more. All committees and clubs engage with students through their Instagram handles as well. The campus is equipped with sports facilities for Football, Cricket, Basketball, Badminton, Tennis, Swimming and more. In addition, the campus has a huge repository of reading material and an expansive library with more than 40000 books.
Admission :
The admission process consists of a written exam - the Common Admission Test. CAT 2023 was held on 27 Nov in 3 shifts. The application fee for the exam was 2200+ GST. There are 3 sections in the exam - Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. The exam was for 2 hours, with a sectional timing of 40 minutes each. The applicant must have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in any field with an aggregate percentage of at least 50% (Gen Category). There is no minimum requirement for work experience to sit for the CAT, which makes it a good option for higher education for fresher graduates.
Interview Experience :
In the interview process of IIM Kozhikode, the shortlisted candidates went through an offline process which consisted of WAT i.e. Written Ability Test, and PI i.e. Personal Interview. The WAT topic was " Should abortion be abolished in India?" and lasted for 25 minutes. Post this my Interview was conducted by 2 professors of IIMK and questions were centered around my academic background and my reasons for joining the program. They also tested my general awareness of current news. The best way to prepare for GDPIWAT is by preparing HR questions, reading newspapers, and giving mock PIs to become aware of your strengths and shortcomings. These steps helped me a lot in my preparation.
