- Canteen is the worst. The lifts don't work quite frequently
Course Curriculum Overview
I did some research and came to know that like most of the other colleges, placements are highest in CSE although in recent years IT has also caught up. The faculty are decent for some departments. There are a few subjects that are not given much attention by the faculty as well as the students. I have encountered quite a lot of new faculty members in my time here. They are though knowledgeable, and lack experience in teaching. Term exams are held at the end of every semester, and are not much difficult to pass.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are decently frequent stipends around 5k-10k. Though completing the tasks and receiving stipends is not much easy, especially in the first two years. In the last two years, it is more feasible to do internships.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements from the third year. Various companies visit and make offers like cognizant, capgemini, etc. but don't expect big companies like Google, Amazon, IBM, and Microsoft. The packages are mostly low averaging around 3.5-4.5 lpa. The highest packages are decent around 12-15 lpa but low compared to a lot of other colleges and only a handful of students get them.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are hiked quite frequently in recent years. For the fees, better facilities are expected. I receive the SVMCM scholarship. There are some additional scholarships for foreign students. No other financial assistance is from a college other than the few internships that can provide you a stipend.
Campus Life
Tech fest, annual fest, and other programs are conducted every year. Books are provided by the library. Sports and other extracurricular activities are also conducted every year. There are many clubs like coding club, photography club, etc.
Admission
The eligibility to get admission to this college is fairly easy. You can get admitted through three different entrance exams, namely wbjee, jee mains, and jisnet which is the entrance exam conducted by the college itself. The cutoff in wbjee is moderate in top departments like CSE, IT, etc. TWS reservations are available too. You can also get direct admission by paying for donations.
