What Students Say
Likes
- Our library is Air Conditioned. We can sit and study there peaceful but on week days as colleg opens for everyone it get chaotic.
Dislikes
- Canteen food is the worst, it's always soggy, tasteless or too salty.
- Most of us don't have a classroom of our own. We have to keep roaming around the college for different lectures in different rooms.
- The recess break is of just 10 mins too less to use restroom and have food peacefully.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is great, the topics are very recent and knowledgable. I chose this subject combination because I wanted learn new stuff. Now majoring Literature, will pursue masters in Social Work. Studying my subject combination helped me in a way that I can apply my learned knowledge in real life as well. Our faculty members are really good. Some of them are not that nice and aren't good at teaching yes. But my Psychology and English literature professors were the best. Most of the faculties are B.Ed, Masters or PhD completed Professors. Their teaching methods include explaining and doing group discussion, asking questions. Faculty student ratio is not proper since we C division students were made to wait in college without any lectures until professors are teaching A or B division. If one studies and attends lectures it's easy to pass exams. They strictly give marks to people who write accurate answers, it is not easy to pass from F.Y. to S.Y. and S.Y. to T.Y.
Fees and Financial Aid
We don't have campus jobs, the fees structure is around 6,195/- for First Year and 6,195/- for Second Year as well. For Third Years it is 7,195/- except for Third Year Psychology students it is 23,000/-. We don't have any Scholarships as such but you can get admission in SIES on merit base if you have scored great. We certainly do not have Jobs on campus. But we are made and given an ID for Imternshala app where we can avail the opportunities of interning anywhere we wish to. And there some (very less) placement opportunities too along with Letter Of Recommendation.
Campus Life
We have yearly College Fest namely VISIONS we also have Utkarsha Fest which is like Exhibition. These are conducted either in First week of January or first week of February. Our college library is full of books which you can get issued using your library card. We also have an online portal for college library. You can get your hands on several research papers and previous question papers there. Along with that we are given subscription to INFLIBNET online library as well. Our classrooms are usually huge with fans and projectors in class along with the black board. There are several activities conducted in College, we have NCC and NSS as well. Sports day is also held in Race Course. There are several competitions conducted during Utkarsha fest as well. We have Associations for each subject as B.A. students for example Philosophy Association, English Association and Psychology Association. There are several of such Associations on which you can get information on College website.
Admission
To get into Degree College of SIES, should score above 60% in 12th. You might be considered even if you have lesser percentage, if you were an in-house student and completed your 11th and 12th at SIES.You will be studying 3 core subjects from which you can major in 1. For e.g. I studied Philosophy, psychology and English literature as my subject combination. As a TYBA student I'm majoring in English Literature. To get your desired subject in Third Year of B.A. you must not have any ATKTs in the desired subject. And if you have ATKTs in more than 3 subjects you won't be considered to be promoted to 2nd yr from 1st yr and same goes for 3rd yr. Can get in Third Year B.A if you have onli 1atkt in a different subject from which you wanna study for TYBA. One can find admission form and updates on SIES ASCS website. The improvement I want to suggest is let the students take their desired subject without saying no seats are available, everyone is willing to pay. Let them study what they want.
