Remarks :
Ils is the best and the oldest law institutions in maharashtra as well as in India. the college has a best faculty for all the courses. the library is the best among the rest of the legal institutions in india. the campus is very big and is amazing. overall, the institution is quite good and is very well managed and maintained by the Principal Joshi ma'am and other staff members who always see to it that the students from ILS outshine in every event the participate.
Entrance Preview :
ILS conducts an internal enterence test and a short interview on the basis of which you get selected for the course. Also, our graduation score is taken into consideration. I had Pune University as my alternative for Ils as they offer a one year course. but i choose ILS for being one of the best colleges for legal studies.
Course Curriculum Overview :
LLM is an entirely research based programme. it mainly focuses on case study, library research, student teacher interactions and also a lot of reading and submitting the research papers. the course being purely an research oriented one, all the basics of law get clear. and also it is a full time course so we can give full focus and attention in studying.
Internships Opportunities :
Our college actively provides internships and placements to the LLB students. there is no such internship programme for llm students. but if we apply on our own, the college gives full support and help for such.
Placement Experience :
our college handles campus placements of the BALL.B & LL.B graduating students. The Placement cell provides complete support to the visiting companies at every stage of placement process. Arrangements for Pre-Placement Talks, Written Tests, Interviews and Group Discussions are made as per the requirement of the visiting companies. A student can apply to any number of companies, however after receiving first offer; she/he would be out of placement process. Eligibility for placement process will be based only when the student is passed in the placement examination. the main companies that come are amarchand mangaldas, azb legal, khaitan & co, dua associates, j sagar associates and so onn.
College Events :
ILS is home to a lot of academic events. the college conducts moot court competitions(S P Sathe Moots), elocution comoetition, arbitration conferences to name a few. the main cultural event organised by the college is the Legal ease. the legal ease is one of the best cultural gatherings out of the other law colleges in Pune.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fees structure of the college is a bit expensive as compared to the other law colleges in Pune. it can be said as expensive as the hostel fees is also to be paid separately which is also a bit expensive if compared with the services provided. LLM has a fees structure which goes to 1,28,000/- approx. and the out of maharashtra students pay more. they pay around 1,80,000/-
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
i do not have much knowledge regarding the same. but as i have known from other students, there is no such policy of scholarship provided by the college.
Campus Life :
the campus of ILS is one of the best campuses i have ever seen. it is full of trees and has a ILS hill in the campus. the campus of ILS is of around 200 acres. it has a big ground for cricket and football, has a basketball court, swimming pool, and a gymnasium. the library of ils is one of the best and the biggest libraries any collge has. it has a collection of more than 50,000 books which is amazing. the college has a separate cultural group with an student elected head. this group all year long participates in various cultural programmes in and around maharashtra and has won many competitions.
Hostel Facilities :
the hostel of ILS is quite big which accomodates around 200 students for boys and some around 120 girl students. the boys hostel is not very clean and the building is also very old. the food provided in the mess is good but a bit expensive as compared to outside mess facilities. the yearly hostel fees comes around 60,000 per student for single occupancy and 50,000 for a room of double occupancy. the hostel is readily available as the majority students prefer staying out as the hostel rules are a bit strict.
Alumni/Alumna :
the students in ILS are majority outsiders of maharashtra. so the students have a good socially active participation. there is no such culture of senior junior in ils. all study together and help one another.
Exam Structure :
as we being the llm students, our exams go on round the year. we have a lot of submissions, internal exams, assignments, tutorials. the exam structure is so designed that the students dont get frustrated after so mucg of exams and submissions that we have to do.
Admission :
I first contacted the administrative office in the month of june after we got the results for our LLB to ask for the details of admission. after getting the registration form from the office, i filled it and submitted the same with the office. in another 15 days I got a call from the college office regarding the exam and interview schedule. and then on appearing the exam and interview, i got a mail in another week and i got to know i was shortlisted for the same.
Faculty :
we have a highly educated and experienced faculty. We had a HOD who very recently left our college for family issues, who taught earlier in the National Law College and later joined our institution. Our current HOD is also an PhD and has a great knowledge in the area of Administrative Law, ADR, Research Methodology and has studied a lot in the area of women and child. we have faculties who teach the LLB students, the likes of Nitish sir, Malegaonkar Ma'am, Sonali maam, suwarna maam, neelima bhadbhade maam and swati maam are the best teachers for law in the entire pune. we are taught by these well experienced teachers.
