Remarks :

In the II year of LL.B at the Indian Law School, Pune, it is one of the most sought after colleges of the nation as far as legal studies are concerned, which is a government-funded, a society runs a private college. Also, ranking in the top 10 law colleges of the country stands 2nd in Maharashtra. The college offers UG courses i.e., 5 years integrated course B.A.LL.B after 12th, 3 years course LL.B after graduation, 2 years PG course LL.M, courses like D.T.L (Diploma in Taxation Laws), D.L.L (Diploma in Labour Laws) and lot other certificate courses too. The admission is based on the score of MH-LAW CET to be given which happens in June/July and counselling starts from August. ILS tops in rigorous practices of overall development of a student including moot courts, inclusion of cell activities and so on. If you need a college life, you will get fulfilled in ILS. Focuses on the corporate sector and sure-shot placements.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose the 3 years LL.B course as I have an interest in the field of law. I am curious to know about how the Indian laws are framed and work, new amendments and in general which has a wider, borderless scope. The teaching faculty is one of the best I am experiencing, with highly qualified and knowledgeable faculties, mostly PhD holders with years of experience as academicians and the way of teaching and interaction is innovative. The teachers are very open, frank and friends of the students who carry a positive atmosphere around, always. They ensure that each and every student gets individual attention and is left with no queries. The teacher: student ratio is 7:60 in the class. The exams always take place in time and it is not very much difficult to pass the exams unless you study. The timetable is also published generally 20 days early by the SPP University and the college website so that you enough time to study.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, the college is always open and forward to create as many internship opportunities for the betterment of the students. Students also seek maximum internships on their own. In recent times, students are inclined towards virtual internships. As it is a bit difficult to get paid internships in the field of law, the neighbourhood has many law firms situated, with the District Court, Pune. Primarily the internships are for to gain experience and knowledge about the working which happens in the court as to how to file a petition and handle clients etc. The organizations such as YOLO and websites such as The Great Indian Lawyer and www.curiousforlaw.com offer the roles of legal researchers and content writers where you learn how to draft case reviews, columns and legislative reviews etc.

Placement Experience :

The college is known for campus placements in every sector especially corporate and practices at the Hon'ble High Courts and the apex Supreme Court of India. Many also opt for going into the judiciary and become High Courts and Supreme Judges. Many legal luminaries and stalwarts including former Chief Justice of India Y.V. Chandrachud and late Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh are an alumnus of the college. The companies usually come for recruitment in the final year of the course i.e, the 3rd year or the sixth semester to be eligible for placements. The college also provides pre-placement training. Law students are not recruited to placements, they enhance their skills participating in national and international moot courts, arbitration and mediation competitions across the globe. Various law firms which visit are Khaitan and Co., Mindtree, Mulla and Craig and many other reputed organizations. The highest placement is around 13 LPA. 70% placements.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure for all the years including B.A.L.L.B and LL.B is quite high. Though it is Rs. 37,015 per year for a backward category candidate including SC, ST, you will have to pay about 54,000 per year for boys hostel and a whopping amount of Rs. 1,75000 per year for girls hostel with a better quality of amenities and facilities. The rooms of female students are more spacious with washing machines. You will have to apply for the scholarship every year irrespective of hostel allotment or not and SC category students can avail GOI Post-Matric scholarship will get about 5000 per year, plus Maintenance allowance for students in professional courses admitted in college hostel as B.A.L.L.B and LL.B are professional courses. Students can also avail education loan facility from the college. They also provide instalment facility for those who can't pay at once. Still, to think twice about the economic condition one has before taking admission in the college.

Campus Life :

The life at the campus is awesome, super fun-filled with all kinds of activities. The cultural annual fest of the college is Legal Ease celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal with dance, singing, drama, fashion show, stand-up comedy etc. It is usually in February. Then we have a drama company named as ILS Awahaan, recipient of many accolades at numerous colleges throughout Pune. The Principal Gharpure Library is one of the biggest legal libraries in Asia where you will find every single detail of what you are searching for in thousands of valuable books with e-library facility. The infrastructure is excellent with two distinct buildings as 'Saraswati' for administration and 'Laxmi' for teaching with a well-equipped conference room and projectors. The vicinity of the campus includes a swimming pool, gymnasium, canteen etc. ILS Kreedangan is the sports fest. Also, there are lots of food courts, to hang out. Tons of Cells and Centers: 1) ILS Cyber Law Cell. 2) Competiton Law Cell etc.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility is not worth the huge amount is taken. In fact, the amount of hostel fees is greater than the admission fees of the college. There are 3 wings A, B, C of the hostel with single and double occupancy. For single occupancy, the fee is Rs. 64,000 and for single occupancy, it is Rs. 54,0000. The rent for the room is approx 4,416 per month. A maximum number of students allowed in one room is 2 and minimum 1. No girl students are permitted to enter into boys hostel. Never. Not your female relatives too. The hostel has an attached mess with good food quality as compared to other places as I have experienced. Mess fees are separate for you can buy coupons or a monthly card for Rs. 2000 and 2800 respectively and then it needs to be renewed. The registration process for a hostel is online/offline both for 1st-year students and is easy. If you live as a PG, the locality is good with 15 min walking distance to the college and about 3000 per head per month rent. (Electric bill excluded).

The course covers all the relevant subjects of law. One can pursue advocacy in either civil or criminal side as the course covers both the topics very well. The teaching method is from books and by using power point presentation. The exams are held on a timely basis and are medium to hard in difficulty level.

The syllabus for teaches us the knowledge required to be a part of the law fraternity. But the actual applicability of the syllabus can be seen as different from what is taught in the curriculum. Practical knowledge of what is taught needs to be done

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course 8/10 aa course is highly good for me and i chose this field because of the respect it have our curriculum is good only as first 2 years we have BLS subjects then we have law subjects after that. As it is an integrated course it surely serves the purpose and makes you ready for real-life field only but as we have 75-25 pattern it gets hard to write that much in the examination in that much hour also we have to prepare for internals alot then assignment costs alot of time and make the whole study schedule hectic

Placement Experience:

The placements are provided by the university based on merit to the students of the undergraduate honours batch and bba batch. The same facility is not available for the adjudication and justice batch for obvious reasons. However, the university facilitates them by supporting internships of judicial nature and other internships too.
