Remarks :

My college is the best. Only a small glitch, that there should be hostels in our college.

Entrance Preview :

I didn't gave any entrance exam to get admission in Jesus and mary college, delhi university. I scored 96 percent, best of four, and hence cleared the cut off for the eco hons.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course of the economics honours is pretty good of delhi university. It is the most complex of all the courses that are offered. In the first year, we are taught all subjects, at the basic level, from maths to micro and macro economics, to computer, hindi, English etc. In the second year we are given a choice to choose subjects and it becomes more specific.

Internships Opportunities :

Our college does not provide any kind of internship in the entire college life. We have to look for internship outside, off campus, during our winter or summer break. It is essential as it is a add on to our resume.

Placement Experience :

Our college provide good placements. Companies like, Deloitte, HCL, EY, KPMG, etc come to our college for recruitment of the third year in the beginning of the sessions. Recruitment goes on till the starting the of the last semester. Annual package usually given varies from 2.5 to 4 lakhs per annum, which is good enough.

College Events :

There are many events celebrated in our college. Right from the cultural events like Diwali, Christmas to department specific fests and society specific fests, like Eco fest, commerce fest and marketing societ fest, e-cell fest, etc. Then the biggest fest is the annual fest of our college, montage, which is a two day event. People put stalls, food stalls, artists are called etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees of all delhi colleges are very cheap. My fees, per year is Rs10,000. For three years, I paid Rs30000, which is really cheap when compared to private colleges like amity university. Rate of return provided by it also very high. I covered my fees of three years with my one month's salary.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No, our college does not provide any loan facility to anyone. It provides concession to Catholics and Christians. Also, it provides scholarships to those who score the highest in each semester, with a nominal amount of Rs3000.

Campus Life :

Our college is an all girls college, so I cannot say anthing about the gender ration. Sports, drama, dance in our college is given top priority and its top notch. We have excellent computer labs, science labs, we have various competitions going on within and between colleges often all year round.

Hostel Facilities :

We don't have a hostel in our college. We recommended though, many times. But the request got denied each time. Food canteen is really nice. Huge variety is offered. We have two cnateens, the coca cola canteen and the college canteen. Most famous appetizer is bhel puri, to die for. Light too.

Alumni/Alumna :

We have a alumni club, which is headed by Anju Grover. The head canges each year. Everyone is active on the group and there are frequent renuions every year for batches.

Exam Structure :

There are in total three years of college. In these three years, we have two semesters each year, which is, one exam per semester, So in a year we have two exams. Each semester has 4-5 subjects. In total we have 6 semesters/exams in economics honours. Apart from these exams, we have small class tests and presentation which adds upto 20 marks in our finals.

Admission :

As soon as I cleared the cut off the economics hons of this college, I took a print out of the form which was available online, filled the same and took it to college along with some original documents. After checking the documents, I was sent to the principal's office for her signature and then to the office for submission of the original documents. Payment of the fees is done online.

Faculty :

Faculty of our college is really good. Mostly experienced teachers with 10 years of experience on an average. They know how to tackle and make us understand complex topics, which is really impressive. Also, the new hires, professors, are also highly qualified. Their new and innovative ways of teaching is also amazing.

Placement Experience:

Sri Venkateswara College provides placements for Science and Commerce Students, not for BA Students. The college has a good record in the placement cell. I am an Arts student so I don't have any placement. So I choose UPSC as my career option. I will try until I succeed.

Remarks:

The college is excellent when it comes to academic excellence though it lacks a bit in infrastructure and placements.

Admission:

After giving my 12th class board exams I was looking at potential places to do my graduation from and Delhi University and Jamia millia islamia were on the top of my list due to their reputation and excellent national rankings. I ended up choosing jamia because it had the reputation for being very academics oriented and having a sincere student body. The fact that jamia has an entrance exam was also a draw for me as it ensured my peers were selected on the basis of stiff competition ensuring I got the best environment to pursue my academics.Jamia conducts its entrance exam around june-july with admissions taking place in august. The admission process is pretty straightforward and most of the process such as registration and payment of fees is online. The final registration is done in person in the university itself. Original documents such as 10th and 12th marksheets are required as well as character certificate and school leaving certificate. The list of required documents is available on the university website.
