Good college with Awesome ROI

Remarks :

It is one of the good colleges to choose from. It provided best ROI, very good curriculum, high industry exposure, good package however college campus, infrastructure and gender diversity ratio is little let down.

Entrance Preview :

SIMSREE(Sydenham Institute of Management Studies Research Entrepreneurship and Education) accepts CET entrance exam however in 2013, it was only accepting CMAT exam score due to Government regulations. SIMSREE is one of the good college of Mumbai with a high package and very fewer fees as it is government college. Hence you need to be in top 1% to get admitted to this college (in general quota). I scored 99.70 percentile in CMAt and got admission in CAP round 1. There are no interviews or any other process in admission. The major reason why people choose this college is college fee as it has only 1.4 lakh fees for total 2 years while average package one get is 10 LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The college offers standard Finance, Marketing, Operations, Systems and HR course and curriculum is government approved. Most of the faculties are visiting faculties with rich industry experience. The 1st year course is common for all stream after which you need to do 2 months internship. In the 2nd year, you need to choose your stream with 4 fixed subject and 2-3 optional subject.

Internships Opportunities :

The student needs to do a mandatory internship of 2 months during the summer after 1st year. Many companies visit the college for the summer internship with almost all student getting placed for the internship. Average stipend one gets is around 25000 which is very nice. Major recruiters are Godrej, HCL, Accenture, HDFC, ICICI, Axis bank, IMRB, RBI, Capgemini, TCS, JP Morgan, Barclays, Citi etc

Placement Experience :

Placement is one of the best with an average package around 10 LPA while the highest domestic package of around 17 LPA. Out of 180 students, more than 175 students were placed at end of placement season. Major recruiters are Godrej-11 LPA, HCL- 9 LPA, Accenture-8.5LPA, HDFC-8.5 LPA, ICICI-9 LPA, Axis bank - 8 LPA, IMRB - 6.5 LPA, Capgemini- 8.5 LPA, TCS- 7.5 LPA, JPMC - 8.5 LPA, Citi - 9 LPA, Barclays - 9 LPA, JLT - 16.7 LPA etc. (Kindly note that all figures are from a few years back)

College Events :

Simerations is the annual B-school festival held at SIMSREE. The motto of Simerations is to facilitate interactions between the students from various management institutes on a serious and informal level. This is supplemented by ample dose of music, dance and entertainment. IMERGENCE is an annual academia-industry interface organized by SIMSREE where stalwarts of the Business and Industrial world come together with the students to discuss matters concerning current business trends. SIMERGENCE is unique because it is an attempt by the students to create a platform where the industry stalwarts address the future of corporate India. Reminiscence is annual alumni Meet organised in September. It is great for meeting new people and interacting with them

Fee Structure And Facilities :

College Fee is one of the major reason why SIMSREE is chosen by many students. It offers 2nd best ROI in all over India. The yearly fee is 70000 RS for day scholar including everything. Hence in only 1.4 Lacs, one can complete the MBA from one of the best college in Mumbai. For Hostel, one needs to pay extra however since it is government college hence hostel charges are also very less of around 20K per year.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are no Loan facilities provided by the college since fees itself is very less. Student can avail government provided scholarship, however, there is no personal scholarship from college

Campus Life :

Campus Life: very nice with a good and highly knowledgeable crowd. Majority of the students have work experience. However, the college has no free Campus area which is major let down. Gender ratio: Gender ratio is also very poor for the college with only 15-20% of them being females. Diversity: Student from all over India comes to study in college however majority are from Maharashtra.

Hostel Facilities :

There are 2 hostels available for boys while 1 hostel is available for girls. For Boys, in the 1st year, they need to stay in hostel available at Jogeshwari which is nearly 40 minutes away from college. The hostel is very basic however yearly fees is only around 10K. For 2nd year students, Hostel behind the college is allocated which is nicer in condition and has better stay as well as food facilities. Girls are allocated Hostel behind the college from 1st year onwards.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network of the college is very Big since college got established in 1983. Many of the Alumnus is at very higher position in the industry with many big names such Ashish Bhasin- CEO of Aegis media, Ashish Hemrajani - Co-founder of BMS, Mr G Dhananjay- Chief – South Business, Disney-India Studios Director, Neeraj Roy - CEO & MD, hungama.com, Avinash Kaul - CEO, IBN 18 Network etc

Exam Structure :

Institute follows standard government exam type with 4 semesters. First 2 semesters are internal while last 2 semesters are university-based. Exams are very easy and one can pass easily with medium efforts. Most of the exams complete in 2 weeks. There are internal marks for presentations as well as projects. Labs are lacking some infrastructure as there is some crunch of funding due to college being government college. However, all required facilities are present in the college.

Admission :

SIMSREE accepts CMAT score and for admission is follows CAP process as organised by DTE. I gave CMAT exam and scored 99.70 percentile after which you have to fill CAP college form in which you need to give college name with priority. If selected in CAP round, you need to submit all documents in the college in next 3 days to secure your admission

Faculty :

The faculty is one of the best things about college. Due to the very significant location where college is situated i.e. Churchgate, it gets many guests lecture. Most of the faculty is visiting faculty with very rich industry experience. many faculties also teach in JBIMS as well as other best institute of Mumbai as well. Permanent faculties if also very knowledgeable.

Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, market research, consulting, IT healthcare verticals, diagnostics, medical communication, nutraceuticals, and other related healthcare sectors are just a few of the industries where students might find work. Sales, marketing, business analysis, project management, client servicing and business development, international marketing, and operations are among the job profiles they pursue. Every year, the most expensive bundles change. Companies give PPOs to high-performing employees.

Placement Experience:

There is a summer internship after the first 3 trimesters where companies come for interviews and roles depend on the company that selects you. It is for 2-3 months usually and is compulsory ie a part of the curriculum to complete to qualify for the degree. Same for final placement, interviews begin after the 4th trimester is done. More than 50 companies came to campus for final placement and highest package given was 11.2 lakhs and average was 8.8 lakhs which depended on the company and the job role. Roles are offered for consulting, IT, media, manufacturing and banking and finance roles of HR Generalist, HR Business Analyst and Talent Acquisition. Companies such as Godrej, IndusInd bank, TCS, Zee, Meru, Capstone, etc were the prominent companies for the final placement. 100% placement was achieved for the HR specialization.
