What Students Say
Likes
- The amount of cultural activities, and sports related opportunities.

- Way too much PORs(position of responsibilities) so everyone is planning events and not fully enjoying events.
Course Curriculum Overview
Mathematics and Computing course is regarded very differently from others. It has the most required "100 level courses" which is the most basic and general level. It is also the most "theoretical" for obvious reasons and one of the hardest branches to score in. The professors are usually really qualified, though one problem that brings with it is that we need to match a basic level for their teaching style which can sometimes be hard if one isn't fully focused.
Placement Experience
I don't have a lot of ideas about placements. On-campus placements happen after the 7th semester, with a lot of big companies coming in. The success rate is about 75%, which, while seems high, feels weird to me as 25% of people even after coming to IIT Delhi cannot get their promised "life set hai".
Fees and Financial Aid
Although the fee is a lot less than private institutes like BITS, there has been a considerable fee hike with the construction of new hostels with A.C. facilities. This also led to a small protest and a subsequent decrease in the fee hike. Multiple scholarships are available for students who require financial assistance and for members of the SC/ST.
Campus Life
IIT Delhi is known for its fests and cultural activities even among other IITs. The biggest fest is RDV which is also the biggest fest in North India and the second biggest fest in India. There are about a dozen cultural clubs and a lot of technical clubs. There are prominent boards for publication, student welfare, cultural activities, etc. The latest hostel constructed is semi co-ed and recently the administration allowed girls to enter the visiting rooms of the boys' hostel.
Admission
The first step is the JEE Mains, which virtually every science student gives regardless of their preparation. There is also a minimum 75% mark in the 12th Boards criteria and approximately 9 Lakh registrations happened in my year. There was also an unprecedented 4 rounds of mains exam with a normalizing method that left many people unsatisfied. After this comes the famous JEE Advanced, the rank of which determines which IIT and branch you can get into.
Other Applied Colleges
Birla Institute of Technology and Science - [BITS] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] {Hons.} (Computer Science Engineering)
Felt that IIT Delhi was much better, kind of obvious.
