Remarks :

Coming to this college is the best thing ever happened with me at my academics. I am sure the college management provide us with everything which helps us to grow.

Entrance Preview :

NID has its personal exam. I scored 72 in total. I chose this as this is best design school in India and holds great opportunities for self development. Process in short: 1. NID Design Aptitude test. 2. 3 Studio Tests. 3. Interview. The pattern changes every year. So getting a coaching for it wont help much. But it helps in exploring oneself.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course structure has some common courses, philosophical courses, practical and explorative courses. Course structure is designed for overall development. Except departmental courses, common courses helps in development in other fields as well. Elective courses have a common theme but at various campuses with different briefs. Elective courses are explorative. Student can explore different departments by taking their elective. Possibility of travelling to other campus and studying that elective there only. Elective duration 2 weeks.

Internships Opportunities :

College provides the contacts in industry, but the student has to apply for internship on their own. Very less companies comes on campus for getting interns. Internship is not mandatory in my department but on average we get 10K per month. Internship really opens up our mind and possibilities for exploring. Really a worth experiencing. Here we learn the practical approach of Design.

Placement Experience :

Mostly companies recruit 1-2 students. And our most of the super seniors are all placed in either big brands or startups. Startups are real game changer. Most to learn there and get more explorative projects.

College Events :

NID has a very rich culture. We have students from all the states. We mostly celebrate all the cultural festivals of all the states, be it Ganesh Chaturthi, Pongal, Holi, Diwali, Independance day, Navratri, Onam, Ugadi, Lohri, Vaisakhi, etc. We have technical festivals also for one week atleast. And placement Week as well. The whole college participates in the events. The events are organised by students only.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Studying in this college might seem expensive but the facilities that they provide is world class (3D Printing, Wacoms, Workshops,etc) Faculty always tries for more industry exposure for students and keep getting feedback from students for areas to improve, hence you wont feel you are paying more. We easily get new services if we ask for it. In library also, we can ask for any particular relevant book to be bought.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No, I do not know about loan facility that college provided. I am not sure but students whose family income is low got some scholarship.

Campus Life :

NID has a great variety of people. It has all the colors of India. People from different states can be found at a single place. Gender ratio is almost balanced in campus. We experience all types of extracurricular that are possible. All events are organised by students only and everyone encourages everyone else to participate also. We learn here to balance our extracurricular and curriculum both. There are appropriate labs for all the departments supported with staff. All services are free for students. We have festivals for sports competition also. We have facilities like basketball, football, badminton & gymnasium. We celebrate all the festivals and apart from that we have parties for freshers and farewells as well. There is a society named GSAC which is student driven and they look upon all the problems of students and their requirements. We have workshops from different people from inside and outside college. Students arrange them for everyone. Overall feel at the campus is like home as no one discriminates.

Hostel Facilities :

We never feel we are away from home as the hostel mess is more than good and the rooms of the hostel are cleaner and have a great supporting staff. We have most of the rooms 2 sharing and very few 3 sharing. They are equipped with a fan, 2 almirah, 2 big tables, 4 chairs, 2 notice boards, 2 locker. The hostel has their supporting staff which keeps everything clean. Hostels have enough seats always for the student intakes. But in case, we easily get accommodation in area around. Its all residential area nearby.

External Expense : Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network is very strong at NID. WE have regular Alumni meet where most of the alumni come to campus and share their experiences and knowledge. All the seniors and super seniors are well connected to everyone. We as students learn from them a lot. They show us the real face of industry and suggest and guide us very well.

Exam Structure :

Work load depends on the student, how much he can handle. Generally we work for 10 hours a day including lectures and our own work. We have single jury at the end of the semester in which we have to present all our work of that semester. It generally goes from 1-2 hours per student.

Admission :

1. Fill form at around October or Nov. 2. exam in December 3. first result in January 4. get dates for studio test. 5. studio test in march 5.1 3 studio tests (type varies every year) 5.2 1 Interview. 5.3 it takes around 2-4 days 6. All patterns changes every year.

Faculty :

Faculty is very open to everyone. Departmental faculty have mastery in their fields. Apart from them, we get visiting faculty for most of the modules. Visiting faculty includes alumni of NID, Designers from industry, and art workers from different villages having art background.
