Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) accept application through three main channels SCB, KVPY, and JEE advanced. Students who have completed their higher secondary courses with 60% (general)marks or more in the science stream are eligible. Application forms and further details can be found on the IISER website.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose the course since I am really interested in science and related studies. Faculties are well qualified and knowledgeable. There are two exams conducted in each semester, a mid sem and an end-sem. Both these exams are held as per the academic calendar. Their results are also released fastly. Generally, exams are difficult and questions are above average level but the grading is relative and there is a higher chance to get passed.

Internships Opportunities :

We can do our internships either under a faculty of our college or somewhere outside in some other universities. We can do as many internships as we want in our interesting subjects/ topics. Within the campus, we can do internships either through the sem or during winter break. We have a summer break of 3 months after each year during which we can do internships at some other universities.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

For the gen/obc category annual fee is around 1lakh twenty thousand ( including mess and hostel fees). There are many scholarships available mainly Inspire scholarship for students who are among the top 1% of students who have scored the highest marks in their respective boards in 12th.

Campus Life :

IISER TVM campus is one of the most beautiful campuses in India. We have an annual cultural fest (IISHYA) conducted in the month of April every year and a sports fest(ITSAV) conducted in October. There is a central library on the campus having almost all the books and journals for our study-related purposes. Students can access books from the library with their ID cards. Classrooms are air-conditioned which can accommodate 300 students. IISER provides great opportunities for students who love sports. The sports council of IISER TVM conducts football, basketball, and badminton matches often. There is a gym where students can work out. Social groups and clubs are common here discussing relevant social issues, music, and dance clubs for the students who are interested. The quiz club conducts quizzes often.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Integrated BS-MS course provides the first two years of Foundation course where the student is supposed to study all the four science subjects, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, along with Computer science and interdisciplinary courses. It can be difficult for people without a strong maths background to study Mathematics in the first two years. This course basically introduces us to the interdisciplinary side of science, the side which lets us explore rather than the applicative side of science. Integrated BS-MS is good if a student wants to pursue research in any field.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have interest in research so I opted for this institute. It is very similar to outside world because we have pure sciences and applied sciences too. They could make class more interesting for students and exams are on a moderate level. Nothing comes copy paste from book.

IISER life

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course allows us to do 5 years of integrated BS MS. We only have to choose our major subject after two years of the foundation course. IISER allows us to do research-based education. All the faculties teaching us are top-grade faculties who have a minimum requirement of a Ph.D. and postdoc. They are each researching their respective topics. There are many professors and each has a group of Ph.D. candidates who are our TAs(Teaching Assistants) taking tutorials for us. We have mid-semester and end-semester exams along with assignments, group projects, labs, and lab exams.
