Remarks :
It is good for study but worst regarding your freedom. If you want to study only and can compromise with rest all then you can join but if you want a memorable college life with freedom then you shouldn't join it.
Entrance Preview :
I took admission through Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE). I scored 308 out 600 and my General rank was 16265. I have to choose a college in kanpur itself and PSIT is best among all private colleges in Kanpur. That's why I opt for this particular college.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Major portion of Course curriculum of PSIT is decided by A.K.T.U, the university from which it is affiliated. It is good for improving technical skills but not best. It is very much different from IITs, NITs etc where they focuses on improving your practical knowledge.
Internships Opportunities :
No, this is field in which they are zero. They do not provide any internship program. They just provide you a No Objection Certificate and leave all that on you.
Placement Experience :
There is a good scope for students of Computer Science branch, Information & Technology branch, MCA, as the single mass recruiter company is Infosys which is an IT industry based company. Infosys also recruits students from another branch but there is not much opportunities for students from other branch.
College Events :
Ignitia is the college fest which is organised in month of February. There are many cultural events and few are technical. Students organises and coordinates all these events. You can see corruption also in prize distribution of these events. They generally announce higher prize money at the time of registration but they give 50% or less at the time of distribution.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
It is little expensive but if you compare with colleges of NCR, it seems feasible. They charge nearly 25000/- or more for training and personality development. Fine is common in PSIT as there are many rules which are ridiculous but you have to follow. That's why fine becomes obvious.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Yes, If you qualify the entrance exam conducted by psit then there will be assured scholarship depending upon your score. If you take admission through UPSEE then you have to depend upon samaj kalyan vibhag (govt.) For scholarship which is generally unavailable for general caste students.
Campus Life :
Campus life is just like birds captured in golden cage. There are lots of resources but you are not allowed to use them. You just have to see and enjoy the surroundings. Gender ratio is nearly 70:30 (boys:girls). 95% of them are from U.P There is single extra curricular activity which is college fest Ignitia which has several events. There is no sports activity at all.
Hostel Facilities :
I don't know much about hostel but it is very expensive and food quality is not much good. If you want to take p.g then average rent per student will be nearly 1500/- per month and fooding will cost nearly 2500/- An additional charge will be of transportation as P.Gs are available 3km away from college. There is direct auto which will take 5/-
Alumni/Alumna :
Yes there is network of alumni and senior students but interaction between the elements of whole network is negligible. I got help only from those seniors whom I know personally. College should work in this field.
Exam Structure :
Yes, there are lots of assignments which are in form of class test. There is no any week in which you haven't to give any exam. They focuses more on improving your percentage rather than to work on improving your technical skills. Rest we know about hectic schedule of B.Tech.
Admission :
First of all, I participated for UPSEE exam in 2012. Generally form of UPSEE starts in January and they conduct Examination in 3rd or 4th week of April. Result and admission procedure starts from last week of June. Till August 1st week, admission procedures continues in many steps.
Faculty :
Faculties of PSIT are above average and nowadays they are continuously working on improving that part of college. Almost all faculties are either M.Tech or have higher degrees. There is also personality development classes which improves your general aptitude and reasoning ability portion.
