Remarks :
Master of Science (Physics) is a postgraduate course so its eligibility is graduation in the science stream with physics as one of the subjects. The application form for admission comes every year on the official website of this college which is hcpgc.in. Application begins in the month of June and ends in the month of July. There is a total of 70 seats in this department. After filling out the application form entrance exam is conducted in which the level of questions is of graduation level. Those students who qualify for the cutoff decided by the college are called for admission procedure. For reservations, one must have the caste Certificate of their caste issued by the UP government. If one has done NSS or NCC they are given 5 marks weightage. Regarding the admission process sometimes the website is not updated on the same day of counselling relating the number of seats left is one problem. Apart from that admissions process is very flexible and easy. If one does not have any certificate they can submit it later
Course Curriculum Overview :
This is a postgraduate course so I took admitted to this course because I want to become a lecturer (Professor). So after doing this I want to pursue a doctorate degree. Teacher student ratio in this course is 1:60 In this college, there are both permanent faculty and guest faculty. Permanent faculty has better teaching skills than the guest faculty because the majority of them are students who pursue doctorate degrees under the guidance of this college's Professors. They generally lack experience. The teaching method is excellent for permanent faculty. Exams are held timely. One is held in the month of December and the other in May. There are four semesters in this course. The paper level is difficult. One needs a descriptive knowledge of the subject to score good marks in examinations. Previous year papers can provide a lot of help.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There is generally no hike in fees. The fee structure is low and affordable. It is a non-profit institution with the cheapest fee in Varanasi. All the students studying here get full fee reimbursement just 4-5 months after fee payment. The scholarship form is available online. One can collect all the documents and fill out the form. The state government provides this scholarship. However, this college does not provide Placement. One needs to apply on their own in various institutions to get a job.
Campus Life :
The class size is big with a big board, bulb and fan. computer labs equipped with wifi available. But wifi facility is password protected and not available to every student. Medical care and water points are also available. Library named Malti Sadan provides various reference books and journals to the student. A separate studying room attached to Library is also present. Sports ground available. sports activities are held timely in the college but lack sports equipment. Generally inter college competition matches are held outside the college. The social group are formed by the student leaders to organize various campaigns like van Mahotsav, workshops, SIKSHA, E etc . Sometimes Alumni of this college also visit and provide career counselling. Other than that Rashtriya Seva yojna, National Cadet corps training is also available.
