Remarks

To take admission in this college, you should have a minimum of 50% or more percentage for general courses but you should need more percentage i.e 70%-80% around for taking an honours course in any specific subject of your choice. But these criteria may change. You can easily find the admission application online on the official website of Narasinhadutt College. Just fill out all the required personal and academic details of yours and upload the asked documents and then submit. The college application fee was around 100 rupees and you will find the application just some week after the announcement of higher secondary examination. There is no reservation but you may contact with student union of the college if you need.

Course Curriculum Overview

Since I was a student of science background, I chose B.Sc (General) though I had enough percentage (81.4%). Because I had no interest in taking honours. But you can go according to your interest as all according to me all the courses are well and good here. There were around more than 70 students in our batch. There were around 2-3 teachers for every subject. The respected teachers are really highly qualified and have very well experience in teaching. As there are many Bengali teachers here so you should have a little knowledge of Bengali just a little only for understanding. Overall all teachers very well. At that time, we had yearly examinations but now those are divided into semester examinations. The college also takes examinations which are good for students. If you are an average student and good at studying, you can pass the examination. The more effort will you give, the more your percentage will increase.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fees of the college were around Rs. 6000 (approx) yearly including the monthly fees. But now the fees may affect because of the semesters. The fees are according to the course you choose. But I think Rs. 7000 (approx) is enough. You can pay the monthly fees monthly or at the last month according to your choice. You can apply scholarship for yourself according to your percentage. I got a scholarship of Rs 18000 in the first year of my college. You can also apply for a government scholarship too. Since it is not a medical or engineering college, it doesn't organize campus but sometimes I have attended some events in which career and jobs education were given. You have to apply for yourself for the job.

Campus Life

4

Many events occur annually in the college. Like Freshers' Welcome, Sports Event etc. There are a large variety of books that are available in the college library. If you have a financial issue then you can borrow the books from the library for a year by just paying only around Rs. 700-800 (approx) which is a very good thing. The library area is found always quiet which is good for students. The classrooms are big and airy. There is greenery and also a pond in our college that makes the college more attractive. Some sports also take place occasionally in this college. There is also an NCC course in the college for NCC-interested students. Overall the social life is good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
