The Student Life at GIBS

Remarks :

The eligibility for the course was based on the marks scored on the common entrance test. But, the next batches it is based on the CLAT scores. The application form, fees, and application dates were all shared on the online portal through counseling. I have not availed of any reservation benefits. The admission process is very competitive and you have to be always aware of the deadlines and the dates.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because I have the interest to pursue law and being a humanities student in my 12th grade, I chose B.A. LL.B. It has subjects that are very similar to my interest in academics. Most faculty members are Ph.D. Holders. The faculty has a very rich knowledge of their subject areas and mold the teaching according to the needs of the students. The term exams were held timely and each subject had a different level of difficulty.

Internships Opportunities :

The student has pursued internships in various law firms like Anand and Anand, LAwgical Associates, Alliance Law Group, etc., and also with government institutions like the National Human Rights Commission, National Green Tribunal, NITI Aayog, etc. and NGOs like CRY, Hamari Pahchan, etc.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The cost to study in the first year of my course was approx. Rs. 89,000/- The college offers and supports the scholarships provided by the Delhi Government and the Central Government through their schemes. The college also helps the students by supporting them through monthly installments (EMI).

Campus Life :

The college annually organizes law fest - Justitia and its annual moot court competition in addition to the internal law events and internal moot events. It also organizes fests for the management department and the sports fest - Lakshya every year. The library has a vast source of books for reference and various popular journal subscriptions for in-depth knowledge of the subject. The students run various clubs and groups like NSS, Legal Aid Clinic, Sports Club, Drama Club, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is fabulous and the entire course structure is built very nicely helping the students to develop other skills rather than just studying. As in law internships are must for personal development so the college provides the perfect opportunity for that.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is composed of every aspect of study but the faculty sometimes lack behind in teaching not in the sense that they teach bad but in the way that they teach slow . The faculty tries that every student should understand the concept which sometimes takes a lot of time and because of that we sometimes have to rush in the end of semester to complete the syllabus

From 3rd semesters ie 2nd year students start doing internships. And from the 3rd years ie 6th semester the goals are clear. Campus placements happen after the completion of the whole course depending on your marks and interships done.

Placement Experience:

From the 10th semester students become eligible for placement. The faculty might aid you in getting internships or placements. I think atleast 50 percent of the students get placement. The pay package might not be too good for starters but sometimes it is moderate. It mostly depends on the student's qualifications. The placement cell of the college keeps sending internship offers to students throughout the year. Though many are unpaid or underpaid.

Placement Experience:

My college is quite new as compared to other affiliated colleges. So 2022 batch will witness placements for the first time. However, we really have an active placements and internship committee. Law students usually sit for placements in their 5th year in the month of Jan-feb. Those who are interested in judiciary go for coaching. I am also interested to sit for placements and therefore, my CV should really look impressive:)).
