Remarks :

IRMA is a world class institution. Given the potential it has, it can grow much beyond. IRMA has witnessed White Revolution where millions of lives have been changed. I only believe IRMA needs a leader who can navigate to the shore where the institute is destined to reach. We have not seen a leader like Mr. Varghese Kurien after his departure. We hold our hopes very high. We would create many more milestone in the time to come.

Entrance Preview :

I appeared for IRMA's own admission test. I have always wished to join academics for which I have taken a conscious choice to join Fellow Programme. This is a gateway to academics.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is designed to suit the demands of rural organizations and markets. The curriculum not only teaches the nuances of rural management but also entrepreneurship. The course curriculum is an outcome of good research conducted by the faculty members. The assignments that students submit as a requirement of courses should be well researched and full of insights.

The college provides summer internships for about 2 month’s duration. The organizations which come for summer placement consists of AMUL, NDDB, Banks, Development Organizations, and co-operatives. The average stipend is in the range of 10,000-20,000 per month.

Placement Experience :

IRMA being institutions in the rural management, it has got a very niche position. The institutions achieve its 100 percent placement on the very first day because of the demands for managers who can understand the rural markets better than others. The organizations like AMUL, NDDB, Public Sector and Private Sector Banks, Consulting firms for rural projects, PRADAN (not for profit), commodity procurement companies etc. The average package is at Rs. 10-12 lakhs per annum. This year the highest package went beyond Rs. 40 lakhs per annum.

The major annual events are 1) Milaap (Reunions). The invitation is sent to all alumni. A special theme is also given to each year's Milaap. The event especially organizes the reunion of batch who had passed 20 years back and we call them "20 Saal Baad". 2) Business Fests for Inter B-schools competition. In this event, industry experts, policy analysts, academicians are invited for panel discussion. 5) Holi 3) Independence day celebration 4) Motka Fod (Janmashtami celebration)

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is very feasible. The total fee is Rs. 9.54 lakhs. This is much less in comparison to other institutions who charge Rs. 14-15 lakhs on an average. Boarding and personal expenses are apart from the above fees. The average monthly expenses of the mess are around Rs. 4,500/-. The above fee is waived for the students who join Fellow Programme. They also receive a monthly scholarship of Rs. 18,000 for the first two years and then Rs. 20,000 per month for the next two years.

Proper maintenance and hygiene are maintained by the institute. The mess provides varieties foods. Every day the food is different. Desserts are common among the foods in the night. The mess also serves non-veg items like chicken, eggs, fish separately for non-veg lovers.

IRMA has a wide network of Alumni. Alumni meet is organized both nationally and internationally. Every year the junior batch at IRMA organizes the annual alumni meet which is MILAAP. A good participation by the Alumni is noted every year. Alumni are very helpful. They all come forward when any student needs any assistance, professional, financial etc.

Exam Structure :

The first year is very hectic. The first trimester is most hectic one. Students hardly get 3-4 hours (max) to sleep. The course is based on case discussions. Students are expected to come prepared in the class with case analysis and they should contribute to the discussion in the class. Attendance is very strict. Even 1 minute late might not allow one to sit in the class. There two kinds of exams conducted; 1) class tests which are known as Quizzes and 2) Mid-term and or End -term which asks subjective questions or case analysis.

Admission :

The admission process consists of two stages- 1) Written test (General awareness, quantitative aptitude, Reasoning, and English language) 2) Presentation and Interview. The candidate has to defend loads of questions during the presentation. The interview is really a very rigorously conducted. However, of late the written test is synced with CAT. Notification about the admission comes in the month July-August. Interview process starts in the month of Feb-March. Academic session starts in June.

Faculty :

The institutions are full of faculty members with the diverse background. A good number of faculties have received their doctoral degrees in the US. The faculty body is a blend of management and rural development domains. All faculties are Ph.D. holders and they are all experts in their own area. The faculty members also remain involved in consultancy to Policymakers for the betterment of socio-economic life of the rural population.
