Remarks :
The admission was based on JEE Main marks. The cutoffs don't go high as compared to other state colleges. The council was done through AKTU, combined for all UP state-governed colleges. Rs. 20k was to be submitted to freeze the seat. This is the first time that the counseling has been done through JEE Main, earlier it used to be based on the UPCET exam. The 20k will be refunded/reimbursed in the second semester of the academic year. The physical reporting and document verification to the college was smooth, the window was large. Although the college started the academic year just a few days after the last round of physical reporting, which in my opinion was too soon.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because I love computer science. The course curriculum is pretty extensive. For the first year, the course is common for all branches - having subjects like Engineering Chemistry, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Electronics, Professional Communications, Basics of programming in C, Basic Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Graphics. There are labs too, and a mechanical workshop as well. There are three mid-semester exams normally, but in past few years, only two are conducted because of covid and decreased semester length. The third mid-semester is supposed to be for improvement only. There are no smartboards in classes of the first year, but other years' classes have them, The faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:60.
Internships Opportunities :
The students in the third year are required to undergo internships during the summer for at least 1.5 months. There are various project areas that one has to research depending on their branch, a list of which is available on the university website and is released every year during summer.
Placement Experience :
Placement in college is average. Many service-based companies visit the campus, but rarely any product based yet. Around 90% of students in the computer science department get an offer. Students are eligible for placements from the seventh semester. Recently, students have bagged better offers through off-campus placements as well. The highest package has been 14LPA and the lowest 2LPA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees hike has not been done yet. The annual tuition fee is 120000 including all sorts of activities and examination fees. There is an additional 30k per annum for boys hostel, whereas for girls' hostel it is around 60k. There are scholarships - the first one by the state government which provides about 60k per annum reimbursement, and then another scheme of the university itself. The highest package offered this year was 14LPA, and last year was 8LPA. This figure keeps on increasing and is mostly due to off-campus placements.
Campus Life :
There are various clubs on the campus, including a literary club, a dance club, a sports club, a coding club, etc that regularly conduct competitions. In a first, recently a three-day tech event was organized by the coding club. There is also a team of NSS volunteers elected each year that survey and help the people in the area around the campus. There is one functional library in the new building of the campus, which is okay but does not have many literary works. Classrooms, especially in the new building, are great. There is no air conditioning in the library or the classes yet.
Hostel Facilities :
There are around 200 inmates in the girls' hostel. The mess menu is purely vegetarian, and we do not get snacks in the evening. There are many PGs and rooms available around the campus, near the Jankipuram police station. After all admission rounds, the hostels release their form on the university website which is to be filed online with a fee of Rs.50. Once your name appears in the selection list, you have to get your documents verified at the hostel and get your allotted room number. The girls' hostel is triple sharing whereas the boys' hostel is both single as well as triple sharing. Almost all girls get the hostel vacancy, but in the boys' hostel selection is done based on merit in the entrance exam(JEE Mains) and other factors like distance from hometown. The girls' hostel does not have wifi and washing machines yet, whereas the boys' hostel has that already. The only con of the hostel is that rooms are reallocated every year.
