Remarks :
Like any other college, you'l have fun, but like any other college, you'll have to work your as well. They'll keep you working till late at nights, and then they'll give you time to party as well. You will learn things here that you wouldn't in any other college. You'll learn what the world is really about.
Entrance Preview :
SNAP. This is the entrance exam for Symbiosis BBA. I scored in the 70-80% range. I opted for SCMS as it is one of the top 3 colleges for BBA in india and it is in Pune, which is kind of like a heaven for students.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum was very detailed. Even if I talk about the Case Studies handed to us, they were always up to date and relevant. Our curriculum gave more emphasis to the practical application of knowledge which was seem in various internships, projects and volunteer work the required us to do.
Internships Opportunities :
The college gives you the option of either interning with companies that they have in their program, or to find your own. Most students tend to go find their own companies as they would like to intern from their respective hometowns & countries. Some of the internships & Volunteer work that the students do throughout the year is in Pune itself with Organisations like Teach for India, Zomato, etc.
Placement Experience :
There is no shortage of Job opportunities in SCMS. They offer a diverse range of opportunities each year. During my last year, companies like E&Y & KPMG came for recruitment, but we also had companies like Viacom 18, Zomato, Great Place to Work, etc. There was something for everyone.
College Events :
Symbiosis has one of the best fests in the country. Sympulse sees attendance from students from over 20 countries participating in various events such as SIMUNC (Model UN), Ananya (Cultural arm of the fest), Symulate (Everything related to Business, law and economics). There are also headline events such as a War of the DJs, Concerts (Previous artists include Shankar Mahadevan, Vishal Dadlani, etc), and a Super car show with cars from Dilip Chabbra making special appearances. There is a Fashison show, dance competition and a Battle of the Bands as well.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Symbiosis falls in the premium category of colleges in india so the fee structure is according to that. Since it is one of the best colleges in India for BBA, that is why they can command a higher fee than most colleges but, the fee is money well spent.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
To my knowledge, there are no scholarships available but there is a reduced fee in case of SC/ST students, also, the fee can be paid in parts.
Campus Life :
Symbiosis will be the best time of your life. You will meet people from all over the place. There are students from almost 50-60 countries here and from almost all states of the country. Extracurricular clubs are always there and sports as well. Fashion club, Dance, Music, Photography, Nature, Trekking, Economics, etc. There is no shortage of activities for anyone.
Hostel Facilities :
This is the only bad thing I have to say about Symbi. The Boys hostel was a mess when I was there (a new one was under construction, must be complete by now) and most boys prefer to stay in flats (easily available). But the girls hostel was a different story altogether, with the rooms as good as some of the hotels. The Mess food is Ok. I wouldn't suggest taking the yearly membership card.
Alumni/Alumna :
The Senios students are very helpful with anything they know about. The college also organizes an Alumni meet every year.
Exam Structure :
The college follows a Semester system, so we had major exams every six months. In between we had Projects & Tests for Internal Evaluation. Between the year, students are required to Intern at a Company (2nd year) or an NGO (1st year) and submit a details research repost of their internship.
Faculty :
As with all other institutions, the faculty was mixed. We had some good teachers, some were ok and some which redefined our lives for the better. Most of my teachers were already successful practitioners in the fields they were teaching. They were knowledgeable and always ready to help, even after college hours.
