An Ex students review of Watumull College.

Remarks :

I got into this college via my CET (Common entrance test). I got this college in the last round. My score was 76 in cet. There is no need to apply for this college separately, when you fill cet form you by default apply for all Maharashtra Engineering colleges. Although if you have already decided you want to get into this institute, you can fill the Institute level form which should cost you around Rs. 1000. If you belong to the Sindhi community, then they have a quota for the same and you can book your seat in that quota and get admission at lesser marks.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose the course of Electronics and telecommunications because I wanted to get an experience of hardware as well as software and the course does offer that. You get to learn about microprocessors as well as about the basics of coding languages. So, in the future, if you have to change your field, you need not start from scratch. The student-faculty ratio is 1:61. Most of the faculties are well qualified, they are M-Tech or PhDs, but there are some teachers who are freshers as well. The college follows a semester pattern, with 2 unit tests in each semester of 20 marks each. The passing percentage is 40. So if the exam is of 20 marks, the passing is 7. The semester exams are of 80 marks, with passing at 32 marks. It isn't that difficult to pass the exams if you are clear with the concepts and have understood them well. You can write the answers on your own, the teachers are considerate enough.

Placement Experience :

The students are eligible for placements from the 6th semester, which is the end of the 3rd year. Like I mentioned before Infosys, Accenture, BNP Paribas, Zeus Learning, Atos Syntel, etc visited the campus. The avg package offered was between 3-4 LPA. The highest package was offered by BNP Paribas of 6 LPA. However you need to have more than 60% aggregate in order to be eligible for most of the companies, some companies consider 55% as well but the majority of them want more than 60%, so it's better to be on the safer side. 70% of the students do get placed in college. The placement offer makes a FB or WhatsApp grp and notifies the grps if there are any openings. I am pursuing my MBA after passing out after working in the Ed-Tech Sector for a couple of years.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees of the college increase as you go ahead in the next year. The college does not offer any scholarship, but if you have gotten into the college via a TFWS (Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme) seat then a considerable amount of fees is reduced for you. This can be done while filling out the cet form. You need to fall under some specific criteria, which are mentioned while filling out the form. Your annual income needs to be below some specific amount. It changes every year, refer to the website while filling out the form. Although if you score well, i.e. If you have a cgpa of more than 8, there are some institutions that do offer scholarships. Many companies visited the campus like Infosys, BNP Paribas, Accenture, Zeus Learning, Byjus, Atos Syntel, etc. The avg Package offered was between 3-4 LPA.

Campus Life :

The college has its 5-day cultural fest in the month of January. It has all kinds of events from Fashion shows, dance performances, sports events like Football, Cricket, Table tennis, Carrom, Chess, etc. There is a college cricket team as well as the college Football team, they take part in various tournaments organized by Mumbai University. The classrooms are decent, the library at times does not have the book you need. You can be a part of the AIESEC committee and improve your connections by interacting with students from different colleges and universities.

Talking about placements, most of the placements occurs in CSE and IT branch, but surprisingly in the Government College of Engineering Aurangabad, the Mechanical branch has the same placements comparatively just the fact is that the package is less.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As every Diploma passing student enters to degree college same process I went through. The faculty of the college are well educated and hardworking. As a student, you have to reach out to your faculty and maintain a good relation with them to get constant support from them. the ratio is 25:1. The teaching method of professors is very professional. Exams are as per the government regulations and the difficulty level is moderate for general students.

Placement Experience:

Students are encouraged to take internships from the moment they are confident and can handle responsibility. They are eligible for placements after semester 4. Approximately 60+ companies visit the campus every year and they take an average of 4-5 offers. For instance, the highest package can be 40+lpa from Microsoft. 90-100% placements happen every year. My plan after getting the degree is to acquire a placement and work with the organization.
