Remarks
I belong to Kashmiri Migrant Category, So we had a whole different procedure wherein we had a common registration applicable to all colleges in Maharastra and then we were ranked based on our marks in JEE Main. Then we had to gather at Sardal Patel College wherein the whole counseling process took place and we were allotted colleges based on our preference and availability.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Mechanical because I was quite interested in Machines and also I didn't like coding lol. The faculty is well qualified and amazing. You'll find good teachers here. The ratio is also quite good. The examination procedure is also fine.
Internships Opportunities
College provides many internship opportunities. You get regular notifications on your somaiya id. You can also intern under College profs. Tons of opportunities for CS/IT from the very beginning ( because of their domain). Internships won't be an issue here.
Placement Experience
Placements are good for CS / IT / EXTC. For Mech//ETRX, they're just average ( just like every other engineering college ) The average package for CS/IT would least be around 5-6 LPA. Slightly lower for EXTC For Mech/ETRX, 4 LPA maybe.
Fees and Financial Aid
So, KJSCE is quite an expensive college due to it's autonomous nature and the things it has got to offer you. But, since I had KM category, My fees was just 30 K/year. But I had to pay more than 2 lacs for the Management hostel.
Campus Life
Most of my college life was online due to lockdown. But I had the privilege to stay there for 3 semesters. And Believe me, it was a whole different experience. The campus is lush Green and simply amazing. You can look it up on the internet. The fact that Mumbai can have such a huge campus still amazes me. A stunning 10/10 any day. The fests are also amazing. 10/10 any day. I won't be able to elaborate due to the word limit, But yeah, you can look it up too on the internet. Also, The campus has all the major colleges under Somaiya like SIMSR ( the management college ) and SK Somaiya ( arts and commerce ) and so many a times, you can experience other major and minor fests too. Also, there are many sports & extracurricular activities. There are many councils, clubs, social groups too. It's a great place to socialize.
Hostel Facilities
So Basically, there are two types of Hostels here. The polytechnic and the SIMSR ( Management ). I opted for the SIMR one so can only review that one. The hostel is a bit on the expensive side. It's around 2 lacs for a year ( including the mess ). But I find it worth it. The Hostel is clean and rooms are spacious with a personal bathroom attached. Also, Cleaning of Rooms is done on regular basis i.e. Once in a week or two. Surprisingly, the mess tools were not bad at all. Also, it's pure vegetarian.
