Remarks :
My selection was based entirely on the JEE Mains entrance exam. However, the best thing is that even though I am from IIIT, but we are currently residing in MNIT Jaipur which is our mentor institute and we have freedom to use the facilities provided by MNIT. The main reason why this college to be preferred over others is the facilities and exposure you get and the very obvious thing - placements. Every year the placements are getting better with an average package of nearly 10 lakhs for CSE students.
Course Curriculum Overview :
This course was chosen by me because of my interest in technology field and coding. The faculties are helpful but cannot rely on them too much. You need to study on your own as happens in most of the colleges and universities, be it IITs or NITs. Overall, the experience is good. Faculties are however well qualified and supportive as well. All the exams and other activities happen accordingly as mentioned in the academic calendar. Passing in exams is not very tough if you study even 1 week before the exam, but I would recommend to study sincerely.
Placement Experience :
The placement opportunities are growing year-by-year. Many major companies and tech-giants like Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Delloite, Samsung, Flipkart, etc. visit the campus in placement drive to provide internships and placements. The average package is also increasing year by year. This year, the average package of CSE branch was nearly 10 lakhs. The highest was nearly 43 lakhs.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The total cost for the program is nearly 11.5 lakh including mess and hostel fees. The fees is quite high if we take other government institutes into consideration. However, there are certain aids like state government scholarships and other national level scholarships. There is a variation in the fees of General/OBC category students and SC/ST students. You can also get a paid internship at the end of the second year through on-campus placement and internship drive. The stipend varies from company to company.
Campus Life :
The campus is lush green with mountains inside the campus, which spread in an area of nearly 320 acres. The good thing about fests is that you can participate and attend all the fests of MNIT which is cherry on the cake and your institute's fests and cultural programs as well. The annual tech-fest of MNIT is Blitzschlag and that of IIIT Kota is FlairFiesta. Blitzschlag is really awesome and a number of colleges participate in it and it is conducted for three consecutive days in February. The course books are provided by IIIT Kota's library or book bank. If you want to read novels and magazines etc, you can go to MNIT Central Library inside the campus only. Sports meets are happening throughout the year and students go and come from other institutes as well, a good opportunity for people who are into sports. There are a number of cultural and tech clubs which you can find here which give a nice exposure. A monthly magazine is also published by the students of IIIT Kota.
Hostel Facilities :
Indian Institute of Information Technology, (IIIT) Kota
Exam Structure :
JEE Mains, 2019, 96.3 percentile
Admission :
The only criteria for admission is that you must have above 75% in your 12th board exams and the cut-off percentile in JEE Mains entrance exam. For clearing the exam, you need to have good understanding of concepts from mathematics, physics and chemistry as the exam is composed of only these three subjects. The cut-off percentile varies from attempt to attempt. This year there have been 4 shifts of the exam in online mode and the selection will be based on the cutoff basis by merging the result of all the attempts. You can give any number of attempts maximum upto 4 attempts in a year.
