Coimbatore Institute of Technology at a glance

Remarks :

The admission process began through the tnea portal in online mode (also available offline in the tnea office, Tamil Nadu) where we had to select our choice of colleges and the seats were allotted based on our 12th mark(Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry marks). Then after I got the seat in Coimbatore Institute of Technology, I went to the campus to pay the admission fee and that's it admission process done.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The term exams are being conducted once every 5 months and in between, they conduct midterms tests and class tests. If you attend the classes properly and work out the problems given by faculties then it's really easy to pass exams with a very good score.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships are started from the end of the 4th semester and there is a good opportunity in getting good knowledge in fieldwork. Companies like TCS and Infosys come to provide internships and projects are also done.

Placement Experience :

From the 5th semester onwards students are allowed in the placement process and a lot of companies comes to cit for placement and recruitment is in large numbers especially in the computer science field. To date the highest package offered is 31 lakhs and the average can be around 3-5 lakhs.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fee Structure is basically 3 types. One is regular seats which you get allotted by tnea whose fee is around 60000. Second is self support which also is allotted by tnea but there is an extra fee of 30000 per year in this but all the facilities are the same. Last is the management seats whose fee is around me 10 lakhs for the four years.

Campus Life :

There are several clubs in this college and there is a website and a group of seniors who help the juniors in coding areas which are very useful. This is run by the seniors and some previously graduated students.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facility is available and the hostel is inside the campus which is walkable takes around 5 mins to walk from the hostel to the main gate and the rooms are pretty much in decent condition. Hostel days is one of the main memories of one's college life so we can just go for it.

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
