Remarks

After completing my 12th grade I was confused about the colleges in Mumbai for BSC in Zoology. So I applied to 2 colleges the 1st was SIES and 2nd it was Somaiya College. But as I was an in-house candidate I got admission in SIES easily and later from somaiya too. But I preferred SIES over Somaiya cause of the environment here I was aware of everything. For BSC in zoology, the criteria were 50% in PCB or PCMB and were also based on the number of seats available. The admission process was easy by just filling up the online admission form from the college website. And the payment of the fee was also done by online mode considering the pandemic or else it's done my DD.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The reason behind choosing this course is because I like Biology as a subject to learn more and more about life science and mostly in the field of zoology. The faculty and students ratio is quite good here it's like 8:120. The faculty here are highly Qualified. They are Ph.D. holders and their knowledge and experience are so awesome and the teaching-learning experience is too good here. The teachers are always ready to solve doubts and help you out. They also guide us about our future endeavors. The terminal examinations are on time always without any delays and questions asked are moderate here as everything is covered in the class students can pass the exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is no fees hike as such in SIES It's 8000 rupees for a year and it's quite affordable for many. Yes, there are scholarships available here and many interesting internships in this program are there in SIES. This year there were limited due to the pandemic. But I have asked the past students about the internship and their reviews were soo good.

Campus Life

4.5

The overall campus experience is too good in SIES although the campus is not that big in size it fulfills every joy of a student. The grant fest of the college is VISIONS that is held in the month of December - January followed by the UTKARSH it is based on various departments' fests. Those fests days are the best days in college life. The library of SIES is one of the most prominent libraries in the area of Mumbai. There are books of each and every field also newsletters of various departments and journals too. The environment of the library is too good for a student. Sports and extracurricular activities are also there in the college indoor sports like carrom and table tennis are payable in the college and many more but outdoor sports are done outside the campus. There are soo many clubs and groups that will enhance your skills in various fields also some of them can add you extra credits . for example there are NCC, ROTARACT, And NSS.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is okay if you’re serious and self-motivated. Teachers will help, but you have to go beyond the textbook to really succeed. If the college modernized its syllabus a bit and made the teaching more practical, this course could be a lot more valuable for today’s job market.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from Bsc. 3rd year and Masters 2nd year for placements. The average package lies between 300000 to 400000, however the package is entirely negotiable based on the students' calibre. 70% of students are placed every year. I plan to practise in central or state forensic science laboratory after completion of my degree.
