Remarks

I had applied to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, North Campus, DU. The cutoff marks for general category students were 96 % and my score was 96.5 % so I got admission in my desired Political Science Honours Course easily. Sikh Minority Students also got compensation in the overall percentage and their cutoff for this course was 92%. For getting admission through the Minority quota, one needs to get a Minority Certificate from Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee. The admission process was online and was quite simple as well. We got regular updates and guidance from the college and the fee payment for the first year was made initially and then we got our admission confirmed by the principal within a day or two and then we received an official mail from the college confirming our admission and then we were provided with the id and password of our college portal from where we could be updated regarding the online classes and other important announcements.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose BA Political Science Honours because coming from the Arts Background in the school, this course was considered very prime and elite among the art students and this course would also function as the base for various fields and Competitive exams like journalism, Law, Public Administration, etc. My class of Political science Honours have 120 students with the online mode of teaching due to the Covid 19 situation prevailing in the country. All our classes are scheduled on the portal and we get regular updates regarding the assignments, classes and tests there only. We have different teachers for every subject and all our teachers are highly qualified with a lot of experience to deal with every kind of student in the class. We have internal exams and assignments that constitute 25% of the overall marks for each semester and for the rest 75% we have our semester end exams after every 6 months. Exams are held on the online mode that is Open Book Examinations.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

A lot of internships from various educational as well as extra curriculum backgrounds come up to the students. That offers you the certificate of appreciation, Tweeter of recommendation and other benefits and goodies after you have cleared their selection process after filling the forms and appearing for the personal interview round. The stipend offered is based on your performance and sometimes along with it, you get some extra commission for every other entry that is done from your end. More or less there are internships opportunities being offered to you several times on the month and you get all its details and forms on the official class groups themselves.

Placement Experience

4

It is from the third year that the students get eligible for the Campus placements. I have just entered by the second year, so I am not aware of it. There are various companies that visit the college and offer packages that are in lakhs to the deserved students. I will not wait for any placements because in Political science Honours you don't get the placements usually so I will work on clearing the competitive examination related to the government services.

Fees and Financial Aid

The overall cost which includes everything except the hostel facilities is nearly about Rs. 22,000 a year which is quite affordable and feasible for all the students coming from variously backgrounds or different parts of the country. Fees may vary for the students belonging to the ST/SC, EWS or OBC categories, but the benefits provided to all the students are the same. There are also various scholarships provided to the students on the basis of their performance in academic, sports or extra curriculum activities. Hostel fees may be different and some students also try to find a PG near the college depending on their needs and the other facilities that they require.

Campus Life

4.5

Due to the lockdown and covid 19 situation we are not allowed to regularly visit the campus, but yes we often visit the college and our campus that offers various interesting things for all the students. We have our college fest held yearly and college societies also hold their annual fests so it's a chance for the students to visit various fests in the college. The library of Khalsa College is considered to be the biggest on the campus with a wide range of books. The college also offers an e-library to its students that is free of cost. The classrooms are quite clean and large with proper boards and have air ventilation facilities. There are a lot of sports such as cricket, volleyball, basketball, tennis, football, etc offered by the college and the college has one of the biggest grounds on the campus. The various societies run by the students are Theatre, Dance both Indian and western, Music, Debate, National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC).

Course Curriculum Overview:

the curriculum is decided by delhi university, economics wing and is followed by all the colleges of du, although few topic are often irrevelent which teachers tend to skip. i do feel that curriculum is pretty old and they should introduce new topic which are more related to reak=l world and give us real life experience not just bookish knowledge which is irelevent. they should also ask for students input related to their curriculum, teachers sometimes tedn to just do book reading. internal exmas are taken frequently and difficulty is 3 out of 5

Course Curriculum Overview:

It is a good course. I went for it mainly because I am preparing for UPSC CSE (pretty common around here). In that context the course is helpful, and also for those aiming to enter research, academia, museology, archaeology etc. However there are not many placement opportunities and for most it would be better to pursue masters later on. Teaching methods are inclusive, both english and hindi medium students can comfortably study. However both students and faculties have some complaints regarding the curriculum changes under NEP such as the sequence of courses in each sem.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course is rightly designed. Plus the teachers often suggest books that can be read from library regarding course topics. The library is very nice here. I used to study in the library for long hours. The exam notes and everything is available at the photocopy shop that's inside the college. Writing this review really made me miss the college more

Placements definitely stands out as passive placement cell of the college is too good. They are quite aggressive and keep attacking us with getting ready for placements. As top corporate house like Big 4 and top Indian conglomerate also comes to our college for placements.

Initially i took this course beacuse i filled it as a backup for coming into delhi university but now i can say that the course is very interesting and it is practically applicable in daily life. Tho the theory exams are quite difficult and subjects like advance mme where max students fail exist but then also it is doable and has market value

Placement Experience:

The college has a placement cell which comes up with lots and lots of internship and job offers throughout the year, you get multiple new job opportunities every week but the campus placement is not all that great, B Com courses have somewhat decent placements. the college doesn't push very much or try much to get students placed, you're on your own.

Placement Experience:

Generally, after BA no one is placed and even if we apply for a job we don't get a good package. So, students generally go for masters or some other courses through which they can get placements. Talking of college placement and internship cell we don't have very good facilities as very limited companies are there for recruiting students. Many students don't even get the internship. This is a major negative point of college.
