Life at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies

Remarks :

Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies is one of the best colleges for BA(JMC), under the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. After filling the application form, the admit cards for the CET exam were issued. The dates of exams were announced shortly after that. My CET exam was held in an online center due to the ongoing pandemic. After the exam, we had to wait for around 2 months for our results to be announced. Three rounds were held after the results were announced, during which particular colleges were assigned to all the students according to their ranks. My rank was 1229, so I got admission into MAIMS in the third round. After that, we were called to the college to fill the forms and pay the fees.

Course Curriculum Overview :

After completing my 12th I had no idea what I wanted to do. I wanted to study a creative subject. So I choose journalism and mass communication because this course was providing me with so many options. It is a creative course. In MAIMS the seats available for this course are 120. There are two shifts, morning shift, and evening shift. The faculty is very helpful and friendly. Their teaching method is really good. The termly exams here are easy to pass if you have studied well. They are mostly based on what we are taught in the classes. Practicals are super fun.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Since it is a professional course the fees are pretty high. The yearly fee of this course is more than 1 lakh. The exact amount changes according to the year. For campus jobs, one can contact their faculty.

Campus Life :

The Campus of MAIMS is really clean and pretty big. There are many canteens on the campus where you can get good food items at a low price. There are two libraries, one for the MAIMS students and one for the MATES students. But you can use both of them. There are also some really good sports areas on the campus and a big ground. Fests are held here every year. And different societies are always planning something new and exciting like competitions or events. There are two auditoriums as well. The classrooms are pretty big and clean and have good air conditioning. But outside the campus, there are not many spot to visit. There is not any college nearby.

Placement Experience:

The Placement Cell of the college is very active. Students can avail themselves of the placement opportunities from the fifth semester. I have been selected as a content writer in the fifth semester. I was offered a 4.6 LPA in the esteemed company. More than 40 percent of students end up doing getting jobs. I have decided to earn some experience as a content writer and then apply for the MA journalism program.

Placement Experience:

For the courses like Architecture, Engineering, Law, Mass Communication, many big companies come for placements in Jamia. As my course is a Bachelors's subject under Arts, there aren't many placement opportunities. But I hope to pursue my Master in History after which I would try to get placed.

Placement Experience:

The placements for BA Program in particular are slightly lower as compared to other courses. Most students from the course opt for higher studies but the few who choose to sit for placements find it hard to land a job. Campus placements start in 5th semester and continue for the entire final year. A student is free to sit for as many companies as they like, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria like CGPA, course, etc. Most companies hire a maximum of 4 students owing to the small population of students at St. Stephen's. The highest package in 2021 was 18LPA and the average package is about 6 LPA-8 LPA.

Placement Experience:

Around 70% of the students get good campus placements, especially in the private sector. The average package for the students is 6,000,00 per annum. The highest package offered to the student varies between 25 lakhs to 35 lakhs. My plans are different as I want to pursue my higher education.

Placement Experience:

The placement of the college is good. It has tie ups with reputed news channels. But in our course, the college does not provide internships, students have do it themselves and they have to prepare their own youtube channel for work.

The management is an equally hardworking and efficient team like the faculties. They maintain a good relationship with the students as well as with the teachers and are approachable for both the parties. Their functioning has ensured that the college runs smoothly in terms of presenting itself to others.

The college timings and the unprofessional conduct of many teachers and the office staff has made college an exhausting experience. There are no proper channels for conveying our complaints and suggestions.
