Remarks :

The admission process is quite simple for any of the four Agriculture Colleges under Birsa Agriculture University. You just have to complete your 12th with Physic, Chemistry and Biology/Maths as your main subjects. And your 12th score should be at least 50% for the General and EWS category. Based on this, you can apply online for JCECEB Examination on the JCECE portal. The application comes in between July- August and exams are conducted in September in CBT mode. Online Result and the first three counselling processes are done within a month. You have to go to Ranchi Agriculture College, Ranchi for your document verification and admission to the allotted college, on the same day. Age limit - Max 22 yrs for General. Cut off - Selection cut-off has remained between 65-90 till 2k19 but in 2020 it has increased to 105 out of 150 marks. Exam pattern - Total 150 questions and 1 mark each so the maximum marks are 150. 50 questions for 50 marks in each section Physics, Chemistry, Bio/Maths.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Most of the faculty are very good at teaching and making you understand every concept. Though our batch is attending classes only through online mode we have never visited the college and didn't interact with the teachers face to face. But in online mode also, teachers are putting their full efforts to teach. Exams are conducted on time. You will get a timetable at least 7 days before the exam. And you will get a gap of at least 10 days between practical exams and end semester exams.

Internships Opportunities :

Though RNTAC, TMAC and ACG are newly opened colleges RAC is the old one. So you will get internship opportunities there.. mainly with farms and seed and fertilizer companies. Since I am a first year student. I know very little about internships and stipends.

Placement Experience :

You are eligible for placement in the 8th Semester. You have on campus as well as off campus placement. Students had grabbed good placements in various private firms mostly banking with an average package of 4-6 LPA. Since I am a first year student. I don't know much about placement and Internships. But you will get more opportunities in this university than any other agricultural university in this state. And in the coming future, the demand will increase for agriculture graduates. Most students who don't take placements prepare for JRF and higher studies or prepare for PCS and various vacancies in both government and private firms providing good posts and salaries. There are many more options to explore than you know now. You will get to know many more options from your professors and seniors.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Since this is a State funded State Agricultural University (SAU) and ICAR accredited, college fees are not much. And especially this university has a very low raw fee i.e, only Rs. 10k/year including all facilities. You can also avail various scholarships under State Schemes and also you get some prize money if you rank top.

Campus Life :

Since the agriculture colleges under BAU are new (except RAC) and in developing conditions, you may see some lag in infrastructure and few facilities. But the Campus location and campus size are really great. Since these are government residential colleges, facilities will improve a lot. Due to covid lockdown, many sanctioned facilities have not reached the campus till now. But is expected to come very soon. Library - There are not many books but you will get all the books of your requirements. Many more books have not arrived due to the lockdown. Social life- Since this is a residential college you get a very good environment and guidance from your seniors too. You can have interaction and discussion will friends, seniors and also teachers.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel is well equipped. Initially, you get a room for two students. Mess and cantine are available. Food is okay type. Not bad. You can have three meals a day and snacks too. You can also cook on your own occasionally by your arrangement with the help of teachers. There is no restriction in celebrating birthdays. You cannot live outside the college hostel. Gate closing time is 6 PM in winter and 7 pm in summer.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course of Bsc Agriculture is extremely interested to study and learn. The fact that you're connected to the field for most of the time enhances your understanding of the subject in depth. It prepares us for real world applications as the subjects such as extension education or RAWE programme is included in the curriculum. These programmes bring us face to face with real life situations. The areas of improvement include more exposure to outside world. The frequency of exams is once in a semester. The difficulty level is moderate.
