Remarks :
The admission is through entrance exam conducted by JCECE. Students securing ranks between 1-300 gets admission to any of the Agriculture College within the university. I had researched about the college on Google, shiksha.com and Collegedunia. I also asked to few students from personal contact about the college. The infrastructure and hostel facilities of the college is more than expected. There is WiFi facility in the campus and hostel and proper digital classrooms. The professors are also qualified ones and teach in an interactive manner. There are some backdrops like not very advanced laboratories and very few young professors. But all of these don't stop you from excelling. There is a competitive environment and students are doing well in national exams as well as research works. Admission generally occurs within a month after the results of entrance exam is declared. Form filling generally starts in April and the exam is conducted in June. Admission process is completed by July.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Agriculture is a broad subject and is need of this agrarian nation so I chose it. The course curriculum is according to the fifth Dean committee report and is well designed. It includes both theory and practical learning. The average student to teacher ratio is 40:1. All professors are well qualified and have deep knowledge of core essentials of the subject and they keep doing research activities also. But some old professors are not to adapted to digital learning and use old methods of teaching. The exams are conducted in time and is based on what the syllabus demands and what all have been taught by the teacher. So the difficulty level is moderate. There are also practical works and assignment given time to time to enhance our practical knowledge too.
Internships Opportunities :
Students are given opportunity for internship in the 7th semester during the RAWE program in which companies like Mahindra, BAYER, IFFCO, Medha dairy come for taking students and thus give proper exposure of the Agriculture field works. Main tasks offered are of interaction with the farmers and giving of advisories on problems they face in farming or animal husbandry. We are also assigned tasks of identification of agri entrepreneurs for startups
Placement Experience :
Students in 7th semester are provided industrial internships and the after 8th semester are eligible for campus placement. Companies like JSLPS, BRLPS, SYNGENTA, BAYER,etc come for campus placement. Highest package offered is of 4lkhs/annum. Very few companies come for placement. Because of all this, students prefer for preparing for government jobs and Bank exams. Around 5-10% students opt for capmus placement. My plans after getting degree is to prepare for JRF exam for admission in post graduation course.
Fees and Financial Aid :
The study in this college is very efficient. It is cheapest among all the Agriculture colleges in India. The facilities provided such as classrooms, library, computer cell, hostel are much high in comparison to the fees. The infrastructure is very nice. There are provision of merit scholarship for top 5 students of a batch and also government e kalayan scholarship for economically backward students. The college is suitable for both socio-economically forward and backward students.
Campus Life :
There are lot of cultural and sports events organised like Birsa jayanti, Annual sports day, foundation day and also many workshops. Inter University fests are also organised along with celebration of Christmas gathering, Saraswati Puja and teacher's day. The library is getting updated year by year with new editions of books and journals. There is also printing facility in the library. Classroom are air conditioned and have digital reaching equipment. Students are involved in various activities like YouTube channel eg. Agriwizard BAU and have also developed android applications like agri-capsule for helping in studies.
Hostel Facilities :
The rooms are very spacious and we'll maintained with proper sanitation facilities. Staffs are appointed to main hygiene. Mess is run by Students and has been renovated recently. The food quality and menu is very nice. Average monthly cost of mess is around 2000 per month. Hostel accommodation is provided at the time of admission itself. The hostels are very affordable and well maintained. Students can also look for rented room or PGs in Kanke locality.
