My experience at CIT

Remarks :

I chose Coimbatore institute of technology as it is one of the most prestigious colleges in the city of Coimbatore for engineering. I got into the college through TNEA counselling under SS (self supporting ) category . I got to know about CIT through TNEA 's official page.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose B.E CSE as my course as it has high scope in the future. The faculty members here are highly qualified .They are also extremely friendly ,supportive and are always open to answer doubts. Due to the current Covid situation classes are held online which usually starts from 9:00 A.M and ends at 5:00 P.M with breaks between each hour. Semester exams are held once in every five months with 2 mid semester exams in the middle. Internal marks are calculated on the basis of assignment submission and mid semester examination's scores. Absolute grading is the exam pattern followed here.

Placement Experience :

The average salary package right after placements is around 4.5 L/ year . The highest salary package as of 2019 is 33 L/year in ZOHO . 80% of the students get placements in companies. Some of the companies that come for placements are Infosys, Zoho, TCS and IBM.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Through counselling there are 2 categories under which you can get into the college: 1)Aided 2)unaided The fee structure for aided is around 24,000 INR / year. The fee structure for unaided is around 61,000 INR/year. I got in through self supporting (unaided) category which costed me 61000.

Campus Life :

There are many clubs here such as the NSS( National Service Scheme), Youth Red Cross and so many more. CIT is also well known for sports . It various amenities such as a football ground, cricket ground, library, laboratories and etc.

Hostel Facilities :

The rooms here are very spacious with separate beds and cupboards. It is mostly 3 or 4 people in one room . It costs around 20,000 INR/year for hostel . Mess bill is separately paid every month which costs around another 20,000 INR/year.

Other Applied Colleges

Measi Academy of Architecture | B.Arch

I didn't opt this college as I was not happy with it's infrastructure.

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
