Remarks :
SVCE is one of the top 10 colleges in Chennai. it has a good placement record(100%). It is an Autonomous college. The syllabus is condensed to the important topics for students to be stress free and learn concepts clearly. I got SVCE through merit. SVCE is the best college I could find near my location. SVCE has introduced me to many platforms such as Coursera, Internshala, Hackerrank etc. to boost my knowledge and understanding. The bad aspect may be that the hostel food may not be good. Some students feel that the hostel or transport fee are all overpriced. The library and infrastructures are great. The Multi-purpose hall can accommodate about 600-800 people. I was recommended by my teacher about this college and this college matched my cut- off. The faculties are all friendly and the practical aspects of the concepts are made clear by them.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose B.E, Electronics and Communication Engineering. The course curriculum is well defined. The Regulation documents, syllabus, instructions, credits of courses, clubs available, information documents are sent to the students beforehand so that the students can be vigilant about the happenings. The faculty student ratio is perfect. There is a sufficient number of faculties in each department. Faculty Advisors are allotted for each student to monitor, guide and solve the grievances of the student. If a student faces any problem, he/she shall approach the Faculty Advisors first. The faculties are all qualified in their fields. Feedbacks are given to the teachers for their teaching method by the students themselves. And also coordinators monitor the performance of the faculties on a timely basis. Three CATs are conducted in a semester to calculate the internal marks of the students. At the end of each semester, End- semester exam is conducted at the end of each semester(5- 6 months.
Internships Opportunities :
I am in 3rd year. The companies have started showing up now. SVCE faculties encourage students to apply for jobs in Internshala. They also bring many companies. They conducted mock interview and brought companies such as sight spectrum, annexmed, etc.
Placement Experience :
From the 6th semester students are divided into 2 groups. Those who go for higher studies(Option B) and those who opt for placements(Option A). Option A students are given placement training by continuous assessments and classes. Companies such as ZOHO, Infosys, L & T, Lucas TVS, Wipro come for placements. The coordinators and placement Officers make sure that all the students are placed.
Fees and Financial Aid :
Fees vary with respect to whether the student is a merit student or a management student. 80,000 is the Government fee. Additional 50,000 for transportation fee(College Bus) and 95,000 for hostel students. Fees are quite high. Scholarships are brought by the faculties and they guide students in taking up the scholarship. First graduates, students who belong to SC, ST get fee reductions. Companies providing internships come to our college in 3rd year and students are selected through the recruitment process. These internships can become permanent jobs. Students get the opportunity to attend hands-on workshops, tech talks etc. The average company packages range from 6L pa.
Campus Life :
Annually, we have symposium conducted by each department. Pre-final year students get to arrange for the events and competitions in the symposium. Students participate enthusiastically and exhibit their skills in the events. The College is decorated on the occasion of the symposium and girls are allowed to wear saree on this day only. The month in which they are conducted my vary. we have Dr A.C. Muthiah Central Library in SVCE. The textbooks for a subject are given to the students in the Syllabus document and students can take books from the library. NCC, YRC, NSS, NSO are the extracurricular activities provided by our college. Sports activities take place for the sportspeople. Sport students are trained to compete with the students of other colleges. Blood donation camps are organized by YRC. There are Associations in each department to promote the events in the department. Care Club Of SVCE plan activities to spread awareness among people.
