Aliasgar Sodawala's Review On Hindustan Institute Of Technology And Science - [HITS], Chennai

Entrance Preview :

The college had a private entrace exam called hits entrance , and this is the top college for automobile engineering in south chennai due to its tie ups with diffrent companies and also india for projects such as baja and formula .

Course Curriculum Overview :

We get to learn all the basic things in first and the new pattern also allows us to choose a different course like i have taken automobile as my core area and i can also study computer or chemical or management subject with my core subjects so that i can have a a more diverse learning .

Internships Opportunities :

The college provides internship with mahindra , volkswagen many other it companies and companies like sail etc. I have not gone to an internship yet so i dont have much experience with the way they work and other things etc .

Placement Experience :

I have no clue about placements of other departments but for the automobile dept many core compa ies have come and they have taken only those students with no history of arrears .

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees is kinda on the higher side for the first year it was approx 2 lakhs and for the next 3 years it is about 1.7 lakhs. The infrastructure you get for this amount of fees is not good it should be better . The teaching is good and the tie ups and the experience you get fro. Participating in different events justifies the fees of the college

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes, the col offers good scholarships and loans for bright students and the slash the fees by 50 percent in some cases .

Exam Structure :

Over the semester we had 6-7 theory subjects and 3-4 labs . Every month we have internal examinations which consists of theory . We have 2 got those per semester and one model exams which have labs as well as theory subjects and then finally we have the end semester exams . This structure is not hectic and its chilled out as we have ample time between each exam .

Faculty :

The faculty of the college have a lot of knowledge some of them lack in communication skill as their first language is not english . They help students in their projects at every step they sometimes stay up late in the college to help students to finish their projects . They introduce us to the industry people so that we can learn from the experts .

Placement Experience:

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
