Mit Manipal, what to expect

Remarks :

The biggest pro of MIT Manipal is the campus and the overall atmosphere of the institute itself, almost every facility is available for the students. Fees are at a higher point. Apart from academics also there are various clubs both technical and non-technical. The admission process was different than usual owing to the pandemic, MET was organized via online proctored testing and the final admission was done on the basis of rank which was obtained from adding the MET score and the 12th board result.MET is usually held in April of every year. Activities offered apart from academics are some of the best in India. Referred to quora reviews and youtube videos.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The majority of the faculties here are very supportive and the teaching methods, although being online, is interactive. There are a good student and faculty ratio. Most of the teachers have experience of more than 10 years and have PhD degree. Then in the semester tests were conducted online. Otherwise, it is taught by slides and onboard. The curriculum seems outdated considering the ever progressing/developing field of engineering. Exams are held almost every month and if studied well then not difficult to pass.

Internships Opportunities :

The students have to arrange for internships on their own and they are a compulsory part of the curriculum here. Some companies come for internships such as Infosys, IBM, Amazon, OYO etc and stipend can go up to 80k. almost 700 students were offered internships. Some converted their internship to full time offer. The students can choose any company either in the state of Karnataka itself or any other state.

Placement Experience :

After 6th semester student becomes eligible for campus placements. Companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Dell, Hp, Oyo, JP morgan, Delloit, Bosch etc come for placements, 1000 offers are made. Over 250 companies came for placement. The highest package was 41 LPA and the average was 7.5 LPA with a median of 6.5 LPA. 65 % of students were placed. Can go for placements or for higher studies

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

It's no secret that Manipal is on the costlier side when it comes to engineering colleges but it does provide Enough facilities to justify it. Fees increase about 10% every year. The total cost is about 22 lakhs including hostels. Scholarships are provided on the basis of rank in MET and students whose family income is less than 12 lakh are also provided with scholarship under the AICTE scheme< Scholarship for Konkani speaking, Merit scholarships, Scholarship for alumni children etc.

Campus Life :

Campus Life in MIT is one of the best when compared to other institutes, it boasts events like Revels and Techtatva along with fests and other such functions. They are conducted in the months of March and October. All books are there in the library and a large collection of journals. The classroom is large and is air conditioned with very good furniture. Student projects and clubs are in abundance and are supported by the college. Clubs are there for drama, music, anime, NGOs etc and also technical clubs such as ISA, IEEE, IE Mechanical, ASME etc.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostels are divided into categories starting from three sharing non AC to single AC rooms. Food courts are available and the mess food served there is genuinely good with plenty of variety. The menu is changed every week and special meal in the month end. The rooms are cleaned twice a week and the general cleanliness of the hostels is pretty good. The hostel can be booked online and are quite expensive.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.

Remarks:

Well it was a emerging glorious institution, so I chose it. Also it has good facilities with good experience of atleast 10 years in the field of education. The infrastructure of my university is excellent. It has all the facilities needed for the overall development of a student. Although it us situated little of the city, it is totally worth the travel.
