Remarks :
IIM is a brand and IIM-J has been considered as the best baby IIM amongst the other baby IIM's. IIM-J has a range of facilities that a student requires in his day to day life. The college has a mess facility, Gym facility and every other thing that an IIM must-have. Being at IIM-J is the best part of my life. First of all the faculty that is teaching us is at par. Every faculty has done PhD or Pdf either from IIT's or form reupdated institutes from abroad and the experience that the faculty bring with them is the best thing you expect from such a high-class faculty. IIM-J is mentored by IIM-L hence we get the exposure of the faculty that the IIM-L peeps get. Apart from the faculty, peer learning is also something which you get in the IIM's, especially in IIM-J. Since everyone present in the IIM-J has seen a huge competition and then after winning that competition they came here, so basically they posses a huge horizon of knowledge which helps everyone. No doubt IIMJ is the best.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The faculties are PhD from prestigious institutions therefore the knowledge they bring in with themselves is the best thing to get at any IIM. Particularly at IIM-J, the faculty is absolutely awesome. Each faculty has done their PHD or PDF either from IIT's or from a prestigious institution abroad. When you sit with the faculty and the knowledge they impart you is worth paying everyone in IIM-J. Apart from that while studying they introduce you to a real-life situation and gives you the knowledge likewise. Also, the project that the faculty provide us is meant in such a way that coordination and teamwork could be increased with each of the members. Basically, the faculty is continuously engaged with each and every student so that a future leader could be made out of it. Faculty is friendly, awesome, educated, experienced and best of all that help you to deal with real-life management problems so that the best leader and manager can be made out of you in a fun process. It is good.
Internships Opportunities :
The IIM-J provides each and everyone with the opportunity to work with real companies to gain some real experience in the real world. The companies start coming in around August till March in your first year to offer and select candidates for the internship. A wide range of companies from startups to MNC's come for hiring students for the internship. Companies in each domain like HR, Marketing, Finance, Operations etc. comes for internships. If the students work well and more than the expectation of the company, they get offered the PPO from the respective company. The batch of 2019-2021 got the internship of an average of 60K with the 1.2L being the highest. Our batch of 2020-2022 got an internship with an average of 50K with the highest of 90K. Talking about myself, I got the opportunity to work with the Outlook Group for the role of marketing and I am getting the stipend of 45K for two months.
Placement Experience :
The IIM's are the hub for the good placements and especially when it comes to the IIM-J which is the newest IIM built up till now, it is performing well as compared to the other baby IIM's. IIM-J was established in the year 2016 and we are the 5th batch of it. Seeing the placements of the previous 4 batches, it seems like you are at the right place to get some good placements. The placement of the batch 2019-2021 are undergoing right now and almost all of the students got placed in the initial phase of the placements. The average package secured by the 2019-2021 batch is 10.67LPA and the highest package went this year is 24LPA. Seeing the current situation of the Covid and the rattling economy, getting such huge packages is no less than a blessing. Apart from final placements, continuous live projects come into the campus where you get a chance to earn some experience and some money at the same time as well. Overall there is not at all doubt and worry about the placements of the IIM-J.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I think every penny is worth in studying in the IIM's apart from that the college helps the students financially but there is a criterion for that too. You should score a minimum CGPA of 8 in your first year to get some amount of scholarship. Apart from that the students from SC, ST gets to benefit in their fees. No special kind of fee concession is there for EWS students. But apart from that, the college offers such a good placement that even after paying such a huge fee, you can easily pay your loan in a year or two if you had to take it from some banks. Apart from that, the college offers various kind of facilities so that every money is worth paying for the IIM. The fee at IIM-J is low as compared to the other IIM's apart from the ROI at IIM-J is also great as compared to the other colleges hence in terms of fee one can be assured that their money is getting invested at a safe place and they will get to learn something awesome with the amount that they will be paying.
Campus Life :
Campus life is awesome at IIM-J. You have everything present here to lead a great life. The campus has Gym, mess, hostels, Wi-Fi, garden, cafeteria, lawn, park and whatnot. The campus is in the beautiful city of Jammu where the weather remains excellent whether it is day or night. The garden is covered with a different lot of flowers which appeals to you when you are tired of your extreme management life. On the campus, each and every facility is present that a student uses in his day to day life. Hostels are great and have double occupancy. Hostels are separated for girls and boys. Sports facilities include football ground, basketball ground, table tennis sets and every indoor or outdoor game one can think of. A yearly fest also took place at IIM-J where the world-class DJ's come to show their talent. The overall experience about the Campus is good and then when you have a friend with you on the campus, the whole experience goes to a different level. And you start to enjoy your campus life.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel's rooms are equipped with everything you needed. The hostels present at the IIM-J are of double sharing occupancy and the rooms are pretty good. All the hostel's rooms are equipped with hot water geysers and AC's. The rooms are sufficiently large for the two people to reside peacefully. Rooms are well ventilated and proper sunlight and air come in so that students may remain healthy and energetic throughout the day to cope up with their stressful managerial life. There are separated hostels for boys and girls and contains all the amnesties of living a cheerfully and energetic life. The rooms in the hostel are well cleaned and the room cleaning service comes in daily so that you live in good and sanitized living conditions. Apart from that if you want to opt for a single occupancy room, you can do that too. In the rooms, there is a strict procedure. You are not allowed to bring any kind of narcotics inside the hostels like cigarettes or any other stuff.
Interview Experience :
First of all, to get admission to the IIM-J, you have to clear the Common Admission Test or CAT as the world abbreviate it. Once you clear the CAT and get sufficient percentile, you start to get calls from different IIM's. Calls in the sense that you receive an email from each of the separate IIM stating that you are selected for the WAT/PI rounds. For IIM-J, the Common Admission Process or CAP rounds took place in which apart from IIM-J, 8 other IIM's participate. There is a common interview round that takes place and based on your performance you get the final call from different IIM's. When you cut off the minimum criteria for CAP rounds, first you go for the Written Ability Test or WAT, in which a topic is provided to you there itself and you have to write the best possible article on that topic within a certain limit of words. Then comes the personal interview where a group of highly experienced people asks you questions to test whether you are the perfect candidate to be selected for IIM.
