Remarks :
College management was good at our time with good student representation but our junior batches suffered as senior junior interaction was restricted in the name of avoiding ragging which lead to not much of culture pass on to juniors and this lead to diminishing of many activities and groups.
Entrance Preview :
AIEEE-2008 AIR- 5894 At that time, IT and Electronics were going on top and interest in robotics and making own machines led me to take up this course with good rank in good college.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Research was good curriculum was not upto the mark with the current upgrading electronics with new innovations and research and some of the subjects were not helping in getting the present scenario of the topic. While leaving college, we suggested some changes in the course.
Internships Opportunities :
No, they did not used to provide internship at that time we selected our own company/ industry/college research project to do internship.
Placement Experience :
Placement opportunities for core branches was good but for ECE, the companies were mostly IT and non engineering business analyst profiles, or instrumentation related, which lead to pursuing masters to actually get a job in core field. I got places in Linde Engineering for Instrumentation Profile and I was offered 3.6 lakhs package.
College Events :
Kashish : Freshers welcoming event Autofest : Automobile fest -footfall of ,500 from most of the colleges of Gujarat Sparsh Annual Cultural fest- footfall of 5,000 from most of the colleges of Gujarat Entru-meet : Entrepreneurship fest / management fest- footfall of 2,000 from most of the colleges of Gujarat Mindbend : Main Technical fest- footfall of 10,000 from most of the colleges of Gujarat.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
At our time it was 15,000 per year, hostel fees and mess fees were high, around 50,000 a year. Rest were admission fees and examination fees. From 2014 the fees was raised 3 times, i.e. 45000 a year which was high for some students. There was hike in hostel fees also due to construction of new hostels.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I availed scholarship at hostel level for initial 2 years not aware of scholarship at academic level.
Campus Life :
Gender ratio was one of the great in our batch as compared to junior and senior batches, with 85 girls out of 600+ students enrolled that year and it gave a better gender ratio than 1: 10 , with very less girls in engineering colleges many extracurricular activities were encourage and many robotics lab- Drishti, L&D-Literary and Debate Committee, Renesa- Magazine committee, iIndia- Social activities group, Joyfest- Joy of Giving, had almost all kinds of sports being played and encouraged with facilities, badminton, basketball, cricket, volly ball being the major ones.
Hostel Facilities :
Girls hostel was good and food quality was very good. I was myself mess secretary and always checked the quality of food, menu and less wastage of food. Other than mess, canteen offered some amazing south indian items at very reasonable rates that outsiders also used to come to eat.
Alumni/Alumna :
Alumni network is good, senior students are also helpful, but limited to 2-3 years seniors and juniors, not aware of senior alumni network.
Exam Structure :
Exam structure was normal, with two mid term tests and finals and once there were 3 mid terms with opportunity to present 2 best marks out of 3 tests given. Having one mid term and one final is apt as more exams leads to less practical knowledge, and leads to more theoretical knowledge and loosing interest in the field.
Admission :
Admission happened with counselling at NIT Jaipur where we went after applying online for counselling and getting a date to visit as per the All India Rank. NIT Bhopal and NIT Surat were in the focus as they were close to my place, Kota and my parents didn't want to sent me to far city. Finally received confirmation for SVNIT with oped branch.
Faculty :
Senior faculty was good and had in depth knowledge but some of the junior faculties/ assistant professors were not very knowledgeable of the subject and some of them were from local engineering colleges of the city which lead to loosing interest in class and hence subject.
