Remarks :
If any one plans to pursue ungraduation courses in Science and Humanities in the Northeast. Cotton University it will be highly recommended as the first preferance.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Yeah, unlike most of the colleges in the Northeast, Cotton actually prepares and train us significantly for entrances to the higher educational institutions, thus, making us aware of the contemporary system of competition that we require to face in order to pursue higher education in other prestigious universities or colleges.
Placement Experience :
I am unaware of it because I am from social sciences. Most of us plan to go for higher studies or administrative services
College Events :
College foundation day, College week, Department as well as Hostel Freshers and Farewel, Various ethnic community freshersand farewel, Other ethnic celebrations, inter-college and interstate performing arts as well as academic competitions, Anniversary Celebration. Our University is already centenarian.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Feasible. Mode of payment during my tenure there was offline through challans and currently has both offline and online mode. Fees is slightly less for the Humanities and Social sciences and slightly higher for the sciences due to lab charges. No additional fees required and no paid seats are available. Fees structure is transparent
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Did not avail any. Government of Assam scholarships are offered. Students having the required criteria can avail.
Campus Life :
It is an extremely vibrant ambience in the campus. It is like a mini Northeast. Students from all the backgrounds get equal opportunity. No discrimination on the basis of gender, race, creed or sexual orientation or economic status is done. If it happens, there are cells to complain and student union is highly supportive towards the students. We had a batchmate from South Korea.
Hostel Facilities :
No. College is 1.2kms from my house. Hostels are within the premises, which is walkable by the hostellers. Histel seats are few and given on merit basis. PGs beginning from a minimum of Rs 4500 per month are available within 300mtrs radius from the College
Alumni/Alumna :
Seniors are supportive and helpful in all regards. We have alumni forum which is very active. People keep in touch with the ones who wish to do so
Admission :
It is the oldest and a prestigious college of North East India and hence the first choice. I got on the basis of merit in my subject i.e. History. Admission was in the month of August and was hassle free. Cotton is now an Autonomous University and admission is held on the basis of entrance
Faculty :
We had(and most prabably still has) classes six days a week i.e from Monday to Saturday. There are minimum of two lectures and a maximum of five lectures per day. Extremely helpful and cooperative faculty. Never had issues with lectures as they would clear the topics that one could not comprehend at the first place.
