Yusuf Thanawala's Review On Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute - [VJTI], Mumbai

Remarks :

One of the best in civil engineering. Proximity to my city & moreover faculty & placement of this college. Only colleges in this category were SPCE & COEP for the Civil Branch. I was having doubts as to whether should I go for Mechanical or Civil but then I decided Civil was a good option. However, I feel Civil Engg nowadays has less scope for budding Enggs. Placememt wise VJTI is top ranked. You can expect 10 lpa for a non core job(finance related). But Jobs in Core branches is very limited. For CS/IT VjTI is the best option in Maharashtra because of its ability to attract large no. of companies (Being in Mumbai, oldest college, great alumni network, Great TPO for CS/IT etc.)

Course Curriculum Overview :

Being an autonomous institute, it has the latest possible syllabus for its student. Industrial exoerts regularly visit our campus as alumni or by invitation. Faculty wise core subjects are unbeatable like Prof KK Sangle from the Structural Department. Also, Prof Vivek B. Deshmukh from Geotechnical Department is a renowned consultant in the field of Geotechnical Engg. Other Faculty for Hydrology (Prof Pravin Chaudhari) & from Geospatial ( Prof Mhaske) are to one extent very helpful and supportive. However I wouldn't say 'the best'for any other faculty i e for lab & theory courses of concrete Technology or for Construction Materials.

Placement Experience :

Many Maharashtrian politicians are vjti diploma holders. Alumni network for jobs is excellent because many of the graduates are internationally placed in MNCs. Placement process is very smooth in regards to formalities. There are also courses to improve your confidence during interviews. Mock Aptitude test are conducted for technical rounds. Best placement for branches like CS, IT, Extc and Tronics students. However core jobs in Btech level are bit scarce.

College Events :

Technovanza is annual Technical festival of Vjti having crowds of 10000+ people. Enthusia is sports festival with 500+ people and Pratimb is cultural fest of vjti with 500+ people. College has funds allocated for all 3 festivals and even encouraged to participate during break hours.

Campus Life :

Infrastructure is the only area where VJTI severly lacks. Interior are slowly renovated each year by year. But exterior is a bit lacking because of its age( founded in 1800s). However, campus is huge and greeny and the neighborhood is quite upscale because it is in Central Bombay.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As my course BMS finance. I think my course it's so nice and for plans it's so great to learn about management and Finance things. Which is probably nowadays pretty much the spotlight for the times. Exams in a college about these courses were so easy because of the faculty members who teach in a very proper way. This course is very important because in the future most of the jobs are based on this and people are getting jobs. If you are studying well in this course this course has many opportunities front and many options available to join any job after studying the scores course. So, I am very much happy about my course

Course Curriculum Overview:

The current curriculum is comprehensive based curriculum. Here practical knowledge is more important than bookish knowledge. So now spending more time in wards is of greater importance. Exams are held accordingly - 2 internals, 1 prilims and 1 University held by MUHS. Each exam is followed by practical examination. This curriculum will help to build good doctors rather than bookish doctors.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements after their 3rd year of 5 year course of 1st year of 3 year course. The highest package offered is 5 lakh and average is 50,000/- to 100,000/-. 10% of the total students in college get placed through this process of placements. My plan is to start interning after my 1st year and look in for opportunities in every field. I would want to get a PPO that is Pre-Placement Offer which is usually difficult.

I have also got nearly three placements. Currently, I am working in Accenture with a package of 6.5 lpa. I have experienced a decent placement process which was very systematic in that every or each of the students can get placed. For placements, SKNCOE is the best in Maharashtra.
