Remarks :

If you are competitive enough to get into tiss, thank your stars and do your best. Your career is assured.

Entrance Preview :

I joined TISS in 2005. Back then, the selection process consisted of a written test that included essay and other questions to see aptitude and sensitivity towards social issues. This was followed by a group discussion and finally an interview with our faculties.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Excellent, absolutely industry focused. We had all relevant subjects like operations management, information technology, financial management, marketing management, human resources management, clinical admin and support services management.

Internships Opportunities :

There were 5 internships every 6 months and at end an optional internship. 1st is in a municipal hospital, then trust, then corporate, then any big corporate or public hospital.

Placement Experience :

100% placement record. We had it companies like Accenture, TCS and Infosys insurance companies like Icici Lombard multi national agencies like who private hospitals like kokilaben dhirubhai ambani hospital and trust hospitals lile Hinduja hospital

College Events :

The biggest event is Clairvoyance which is generally a few months before placement week. We invite alumni and dignitaries from the health and hospital industry to share their experiences on the theme for the year.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees is very very reasonable. The college is run as a philan trophic arm of the tata group. In our time we paid 18000 per semester and the hostelites paid an additional 12000 towards food and accommodation.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Various government and NGO scholarships are available, especially for sc St and obc students. State scholarships are also available.

Campus Life :

Campus life is professional during day time and chill maar in evenings. You will see students playing basketball and chess all over the place. Some will be studying in computer room while others will prefer the well equipped library. Some not so studious type will be relaxing in the TV room.

Hostel Facilities :

Excellent hostel and food. We had a hygeinic mess, next to a gymnasium. There was a basketball court also in the same premises. Men and women had different floors of the hostel building.

Alumni/Alumna :

Being the pioneer in Hospital Administration, our faculty and alumni are well placed in industry, right up to CEO and board of directors.Expect to meet the who's who of industry during alumni meet.

Exam Structure :

We had semester system with subjects completing every 2-3 months. so we were always on our toes for studies. It was very very hectic then. Now the structure has changed to year based system, so students have more time to assimilate the knowledge.

Faculty :

Drawn from the industry, very knowledgeable and with good understanding to lay our concepts and foundation in the hospital and healthcare industry. We had some full time faculty members and some visiting faculty members. Now we also have PhD students as volunteers.

Admission:

I was interested in pursuing an MBA program, right after I graduated and took this MAT entrance. As the admission was based on the scores obtained in the MAT entrance I was able to get into the college because my marks were falling correctly in the eligibility requirement for the MBA Program.

Placement Experience:

All the placement cell here worked well for all of the final year students. Also, we were given proper training, seminars, and workshops, etc to foster better knowledge and for the future. Also, the companies like British Telecom, Axis Bank and Reliance Industry were invited by the college for the recruitment process.
