Remarks :
I was told by my NATA coach that this one of the top architecture colleges in Chennai and when i inquired my seniors I came to know that MIDAS has the best faculties and a more practical approach to the course being a stand alone architecture college. However my first option was MEASI Academy of Architecture, Chennai I didn't join just because it didn't have the girls' hostel.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The syllabus is up-to date as of 2017. Yes. We were provided with more than enough industrial exposure. We had regular on-site case study visits and site visits. We visited famous architectural sites and buildings as a part of our educational and recreational trip. The faculties are experienced and knowledgeable in various fields related to our course. My first year faculties Ar. Praveen and Ar. Naveen were extraordinary and the best faculties we have in our college.
Internships Opportunities :
Only final year students apply for internship as it's mandatory (6 months period as of 2017 regulation).
Placement Experience :
Generally there are no placements as such, in architectural colleges and its the same in MIDAS. Most of the graduate gets placed in private architectural firms and rarely few of them get placed in esteemed companies. There are actually multiple fields open to an architectural graduate and its up-to them to find their own interest and excel in that particular aspect.
College Events :
The campus is so lifeless that few even students discontinue college. The living atmosphere is so bad that students are not able to live their "life". Some of the students are under pressure, so considering their families they adapt to the situation and therefore has no other go. Events and extracurricular activities are minimal because the college doesn't support the students and always milking money from the students even for petty things.
Fees and Financial Aid :
There is loan option available in our college. There are scholarships available for students belonging to BC/ MBC / DNC whose parents annual income does not exceed 2 Lakh per annum with all the supporting certificates.
Campus Life :
The infrastructure of our college is very poor. Social infrastructure like transportation is really in a pathetic condition. The college is situated almost 30 km away from the main town known as Kalpakkam. Hence there is not adequate transportation facility to reach the college from the nearby bus stand. The infrastructure inside the college is very poor. The classrooms are separated by a cardboard partition, during the rainy season there are innumerable leakages and the campus is almost flooded. The rendered image of the campus is very misleading, so don?t fall prey. As an institution teaching architecture the availability of a printing shop is prerequisite. The printers in the shop are non-operational most of the time so the infrastructure is unimaginably poor.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel block is basically a 3 BHK apartment. Wherein one room is shared by two students AC or non AC. The rooms are completely furnished and sophisticated. As far as the girls' hostel is concerned it is safe and sound as food is provided inside the hostel. In addition to this the hostel warden is kind as well as strict which ensures safety. The hostel facilities are very easy to avail at MIDAS as the rooms are ready to occupy. Besides the hostel there are other residential blocks/apartments adjacent to hostel which can be availed at the own cost of the students, like a monthly sharing rental that does not include food.
