Student's Review On JSS Science And Technology University -[JSSSTU], Mysore

Remarks :

Jss Science and technological university (SJCE) is undoubtedly one of the best engineering colleges in Karnataka. The only reason it's not as popular as BMS or RV is because of the fact that it's in Mysore and not in Bangalore. Some of the things I like about this college is -The Campus -?It is very beautiful and well maintained.Staff -?It mainly depends on what branch you take up, but generally all the branches have some exceptionally good professors. I'm in EC and some of the professors that I know are very good in teaching. They also support us and motivate us.Seniors -?While joining engineering everyone will be scared about seniors to some extent. Even I was. But here the seniors are infact very friendly. They take care of their juniors and help us whenever we ask them anything.Extracurricular activities?- There are many clubs in our college like IEEE-SJCE (student branch of IEEE), LCC(Linux), TESLA, PHOTO-ON(Photography), SAHAS(Adventure), AEROJC (RC plane making) etc. We can be a part of any of these clubs and they are all very active throughout the semester.Placements -?This college has a very good placement record

Course Curriculum Overview :

SJCE?is famous for 5 event scheme and if you are from circuit branches, you will be spending lot of energy in writing internals and events for first 3 years.Final year is the best part and you will have lot of free time as classes will not be conducted regularly compared to previous year.

Placement Experience :

Placement for CS,IS:- Wow,in terms of salary package, okay-okay types in terms of Profile. You can consider it as top 2Tier college. Better then half of the NIT's.Placement for EC:- EC department HOD and staff knows at last what matter is placement,so they will teach you software subjects to, as college is autonomous they will reduce 1-2 EC subjects and increase software subject. This will surely boost your placement, EC placements are as equal as CS,IS this year (2016), in past it was 90% of CS/IS. Apart from software companies core EC company also comes, but those are few. If you want salary, then it has to be software field.Studying in SJCE, EC. As equal or say it better then Half of the NIT's.Placements for Instrumentation Technology,EEE:- It's good. You get 70% equal opportunity as CS/IS/EC.Get ready for software companies to work, dont have much expectation on core job.Placement is Fix for sure.Placements for Mechanical/IP:- 5-7 core companies, rest software companies. Almost 70-80% get placed non core job, in that 20% gets core job too.Placements for Civil/CTM:- Hardly 3-4 companies, 5-10 core jobs. Rest 60% people in software companies.Placements for Polymer Science,Biotech,Environmental :- 1-2 core companies. 5-7 people in core jobs. Rest in software. 70% -80% placement fixed.Overall :- If you have good communication skill, a little hardwork of 15-20 days. Placement fix. If i say any percentage it wont look good. If you want assurity. Yes. Come to SJCE.

College Events :

There are many clubs like ieee sjce, Linux campus club(LCC), CSI, editorial? board and few more. There is good support to conduct various types of events (gaming, coding and other events) and they receive funds from the college and other sources. You can find enthusiastic folks being part of such clubs and events. Getting akcent to perform in jayciana was one of the best things to happen and it enjoys good popularity particularly in Mysore.

Campus Life :

SJCE is blessed with a huge campus?(around 120 acre) with almost 70% of open space, good labs, huge playground, gym, very good library and overall good facilities is provided by the institution.Location-Mysore, which has pleasant weather, less traffic, less population density, less pollution and the wonderful places around the city.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel life is the best part of college life.Hostels were well maintained. Food was hygienic. And there was no specific in-time or curfew for boys. Hostel facilities are good, Not the best, but good enough. It is economical and inside the campus.Other alternatives would be done PG/flat nearby, but traveling will be a problem, unless you own a two wheeler or a cycle, they aren't that economical compared to hostel.
