Entrance Preview :
The rank i got was 9443 in kerala engg entrance. This was the college i got. I chose computer science because i liked it. You can get admitted if you have a rank under 13000 for a merit seat. For a management seat you have to get under 20000 rank. online allotment will be done according to the rank you got. There are also some NRI seats available which have huge fees. Admission process is pretty normal. Bring all documents for all funds like PTA, Bus fund etc around 7k will be needed.
Internships Opportunities :
No internship is provided by college. Internship can be chosen by student themselves and can apply externally. There is a 2months gap between yearly class leave so internship can be done at that time. Internship will be according to students ability itself.
Placement Experience :
Placement cell is not that comparing to other colleges. But some companies like TCS, infosys and some small companies come to pick students.30% students gets placed every year. Only IT companies come there. salary package is around 2-3 lakhs per annum. There is an active placement cell working to manage these things.
College Events :
One of the major event is the tech fest called TECHSTA, organised every two years. They are great and contain participants from many colleges.Arts and sports are main events every year. They are celebrated for 3 days. At the end of arts there will be college day. Almost all major events are there in arts. The college is divided into 4 houses and they are competed. Winners can participate to the university level.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Dont worry about the fees if you are a merit seat. They have rs 20000 per annum fees. Only govt colleges has fees less than this. For Management it is rs65k and for NRI seats it is above 1lakh. Other expenses are hostel and food expenses, which will be under 5k. There can be some minor payments like exam fees, tour fees, gatherings etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Few scholarship is given by college. They give full fee concession for students with high ranks in entrance exam. Also we can apply for all other major scholarships. Loans have nothing to do with college it is bank related.
Campus Life :
Campus life was average. Sometimes it gets bored but sometimes it is fun. Gender ratios, females are high . Infrastructure of college is not that great. Little space. Extracurricular activities are all available . They can perform in sports, arts ,tech fest etc. College support this kind of activity. No parties except farewell party.
Alumni/Alumna :
No alumni network is working here. It is inactive. But seniors in this college helped me a lot to get along. They helped to understand what to do what not to do. They guided me.
Exam Structure :
Exam structure is same as in every CUSAT college. Each semester contains 2 internal exams of 50 marks, one university exam of 100 marks for each subject. Internals are out of 50 marks (25 marks from the internals, 10 for attendance, 15 for assignments). Lab exams will be out of 100 marks ( 50 internal and 50 externals). Lab exams are conducted by the internal faculty, and will have viva questions. Total 14 labs are there.
Faculty :
The faculty of CEC is good enough. Computer science branch will have a lot of guest lecturers. The permanent and guest will teach you well according to your needs. It doesn't have much academic pass rates. Even though teaching staff are efficient enough. The classrooms are not that bad.
