Remarks
Before joining NIFT Hyderabad, I had the following view points: 1. Located in an IT hub surrounded by various companies gives you great experience. 2. The course curriculum. 3. Small class size 4. NIFT Brand
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is designed really well. But implemented in a very pathetic manner. Faculty is to student ratio can be approx. 1:7 The faculty has great on-paper track record. But when it comes to teaching, they lack quite a lot of things. The CC never welcomes positive changes in the department(FMS). Marks awarded are very very poor when compared to other campuses. And this will have a great impact on the centralised placements. Because, your competitors will have great marks. While your campus students lack marks. Sorry to say but, Boys are always given very less marks when compared to girls. Hypocrisy on another level. ROI is very poor. They charge you hefty amount of fee. But when it comes to placements, it's very poor. You get offers like 15k or 20k per month. Whereas, NIFT Bangalore has a really great industry associations and because of this, their students get placed very easily. If you're looking for great placements, then Hyderabad campus will disappoint you badly.
Internships Opportunities
Only 3 companies came to interview for internships. Only less than half of the class get into those companies. And others have to find the internships yourselves. College only gives you a cover letter stating that you're a bonafide student of this college and to consider you for internship.
Placement Experience
You know what's the irony? One of the professor sends us an email with a photo taken from his mobile phone of a job advertisement given in a newspaper. That is the level of placements happening in this campus. In other words, placements are (very)^infinity poor. Come on, you spend so huge on fee and you get salary less than your pocket money. Forget about that. All i feel after completing this course is that i wasted my golden 2 years and i wasted huge sum of my money. Complete wastage.
Fees and Financial Aid
My batch paid overall fee of around 5.75 lakhs. In addition to this, you incur high expenses on the assignments which will ultimately get into trash can. Each assignment will cost you around somewhere between 200 to 500 rupees. Sometimes even more. So, be ready to spend at least 8 to 10 lakhs for 2 year course (Including your lodging). And this expense is way too much. If you're planning for MFM course, i suggest you to try for IIMs. You spend similar fee there as well. But, at the end of the day, at least you will have great job in your hand. MFM fetches you a job offer of 15k, 20k per month etc. I never got any scholarships. So, i can't really comment on it. So, finally all i can say is that your return on investment will be very very poor.
Campus Life
Campus is very small. You never feel like it is a central government institute. So, whatever parties you wanna have, you have to go out. There are various clubs in the college though. But, MFM students are mostly avoided. Classroom is air conditioned. You find a projector of good quality. But, computer lab has worst computers. In this generation, they are using the computers of 1947. They are not even 64 bit machines. They are all 32 bit computers. This means, many of the programs won't be compatible. And systems are damn slow. Takes ages to start.
Interview Experience
Firstly, you have to clear the written test. After that they prepare shortlists and call for GD and PI. During the GD, you will be sitting with approx. 10 students and a topic will be given. You have to talk on that particular topic. Make sure to keep your voice clear, be polite to others, don't get away from the given topic. After GD, you'll be called for PI where they will have a normal discussion on your profile and they might even ask questions like why NIFT, why MFM, Why this course and why not an MBA etc. Prepare well for that part. Always make sure that a resume is only one piece of a paper. Don't print a book in the name of a resume.
