Review of PIMS

Remarks :

The college is extremely pricey but at the same time provide the students with such facilities that compensate and make up for the heavy fee. The activities and the facilities are all up to date and top notch, and so is the teaching management.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course has 9 semesters and 1 year of posting, divided into 3 parts. All parts have certain subjects assigned to it and the subjects go from easy to hard. The exams happen at the end of every semester, theoretical and practical.

Placement Experience :

The college provides internship, along with stipend, to the students for their final posting in its own hospital. For job opportunities, the students apply to well known hospitals in India as well as abroad for junior residents. Some opt for PG courses.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is quite a lot for the students, it being a private medical college. The fees for the students through management quota is even more and can cause to be a burden on them. The MBBS fee is around 16L a year.

Campus Life :

The college organizes many events, seminars and workshops throughout the year, every year. There are many Blood donation camps, HIV awareness camps, general medical camps, etc. There are also cultural and sports events.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni association of the institute is very well connected and maintained. The alumni are still in touch with the college management and they do come to campus occasionally to interact with the students and guide them.

Admission :

The admission in Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences is based on the NEET UG score that I had gotten in the entrance exam. I got the college through the medical counseling process after the NEET scores.

Faculty :

The faculty members in each department are trained very well and they ensure that the classroom environment is kept friendly and reciprocal during lectures. They want the students to feel connected to themselves.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum of my course is pretty easy to cope up with , so that u get more time to prepare for other exams. Curriculum is prepared in such a way that it makes u ready to appear for gate and other similar exams. Provide more technical knowlegde related to subjects mentioned in the gate syllabus. There are 2 class test exams and then one final semester exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

mbbs has always been my dream job, my dad is a doctor and I like how people respect him, and consider him in society so basically i never had an option other than mbbs in my life. The curriculum hopefully prepares me well for the real world. They do have skills lab classes where they teach resuscitation or suturing which is helpful in the real life, so hopefully it works out at the end.

The college gives good placements for mostly all of the branches and you can get an average package of 12 lakh per annum. Getting a placement in civil might be difficult unless you study hard and do some good internships. Mechanical and computer science has good placements compared to other branches

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I'm studying is Disaster Management. The course structure is perfect with knitting our knowledge in disasters both in scientific aspects as well as social aspects. The GIS course is really appreciative as this will be further useful fo us students as a future disaster manager. Though the field practices are less, we will be having a project only semester during our last sem.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is good, matching with international standards. NEP 2020 is also followed in this campus. As this is matching international standards mean that it is good for future also. Teacher will teach with power point presentations and you have to give power point presentation for internal assessment and monthly test evaluation will be done. Internal examination value is 40% and end semester value is 60%. If you studied well you will score good. Average marking is 8.2 CGPA in department of Biotechnology.

Remarks:

Hostel and infrastructure is not well maintained owing to the funding issues from the government. The government does not think much about the welfare of the students as they recruit at very less frequency which is forcing the students to look for alternatives in other states.
