Christian College Chengannur, MA, English

Reviewed on Aug 13, 2020(Enrolled 2018)

Remarks

I got admission in this college on the allotment process based on merit. The college is full of lively teachers and students and of the pleasant atmosphere. All the faculties are very friendly and supported the students very well both academically and in cultural activities.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose an MA in English Literature because I love literature. The faculties in Christian College, Chengannur are intellectuals having good qualifications. Most of them acquire a PhD too. Internal exams were conducted every time before the semester exams which helped the students to improve their studies.

Class Size: 17Course Fees: INR 2600 per year

Placement Experience

0.5

There is no placement in our college. I just completed an MA in English literature and further, I'm planning to do a PhD in English literature too.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are merit seats and management seats. Thus the fees differ.

Campus Life

The college campus is very lively and vibrant always. Many events and programs related to cultural and academic are conducted throughout the year such as Arts fest, College Day, Department wise competitions during Onam celebrations, Christmas celebrations, etc. Sports activities are also the main part of our college activities and students actively participate in it. There are many clubs for all the departments too.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities are pretty good. There is a Women's hostel inside the college campus. The food provided is quite homely. Every day the menu differ and nonveg food is provided 4 days/week. Based on the amount of the hostel fees I think it was quite huge to be affordable for students from a poor backgrounds.

Hostel Fee: INR 40000 per year

MY CAMPUS

Likes

Qualified Faculties: Almost all of them are temporary staff which increases the quality of the class
Department Library facility : There is a separate section for each department reference books inside the library
Indoor Stadium: Useful for morning workouts etc

Dislikes

Swimming pools were not allowed for every students
Libraries will be only working till 6:00pm.
Lack of opportunities in field of extra curricular activities

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually the syllabus is much concentrated on kerala history and heritage studies part. So this will enrich the ideas about museums, different archaeological sites in kerala, and also field visits are there as part of the course which will increse your practical knowledge as well as theoratical part.

My life at CUKerala

Likes

Infrastructure of the institution is very good
The faculties are very good and they will help in many ways
The composition of the institution is nice, because of the representation of almost all states of the country.

Dislikes

The food provided in the hostel mess is not that much good
The fees structure is complex and we have to pay more than 25000 for a pg even it is a govt. Institution
The hierarchy is very complex and there are many posts unnecessarily

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm studying public administration and public policy and the scope of the course is less. Public policy has some scope but when it comes to public administration there is no scope. The placement is also less.

Admission:

Students who've completed their graduation, preferably in B.A. Eng, are eligible to apply for this course. Due to less number of seats, the allotment is done on a merit basis in each category for the students.

Best college in tvm to pursue MA english in tvm. Better than other two famous colleges in Tvm central. Govt arts college stand out with an equillibrium maintained both in academics and other fields. Last year the first two ranks in MA English in kerala university is received by my seniors.

Experience in Christian College Chengannur

I got admission by the university merit system and the first impression of the area of the college was really attractive. The admission procedures was very easy and they may provide specific days for each department for admission procedures. This may avoid the busyness on the admission day. The eligibility for applying this course is depends upon the 12th mark and admission is based on that score. There is no entrance exams ....Read More

The Wonderful Times.

I opted as first preference while registration is christian college... and i allotted to that college in first itself in merit. The admission process were very boring for me... the interview process were formative. I heard a lot about this college from my friends and relatives. But the fact is beyond my imagination when i start experiencing the college days with teaching and non teaching staffs. They were very talented, supportive, friendly, comfort zones for me and all others. For any small or big problems there will be a solution among them. It makes me really wondered. With charming smiley faces each faculty approach their students. They were helpful for exam perparations also. Their presence itself minimize the stress in us and makes feel comfort and energizes....Read More

My honest review for my lovely college

I choose this college as one of my mum's friend was one of the staff there jn the college and he said he would always help me out when I'm in need and that's also one of the nearest college in my surroundings. I was actually trying to enrolled myself in a better and far away colleges but due to Covid, my mum lost her job and we don't want to be seperated from each other during hard times. The admission process in my college is quite simple, the staff are always there for your assistant, and you don't need to do pretty much anything. One of the good thing about my college was that you can get free schooling if you had achieve more than 90% in your 10th exams....Read More
