Remarks :
Amity University Kolkata was established a couple of years back, in 2015. Since then, the university has grown to become a premier institute and live up to its reputed brand name. The University stages a world class infrastructure with a gorgeous and digitally advanced library, sports complex, cafeterias, laboratories, theatres, studios and air-conditioned classrooms. The hostel is designed for the safety and comfort of students with separate dorms for boys and girls. The quality of education, especially in the Management department needs a commendable mention. The course pedalogies are architected in a way to leverage industry relevant skills and knowledge. The Placement cells brings in a multitude of top firms like Deloitte, TATA, Outlook, Byju's, and Aditya Birla. The admission process is simple and designed in a way to make it effortless for students to join without much hassle. Students with commendable scores and achievements are given scholarships upto 100% waiver of fees.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Bachelor of Business Administration served as a foundation to learn industry relevant skills and knowledge. The courses were built on solid lines that would help one to leverage their existing skill set and add new skills. The faculties are well qualified with years of experience in the industry. Lessons are taught using a mix of lectures, seminars and smart board based presentations. Each class consists of an average of 50-55 students who have an opportunity to move to another branch located in a different region without the losing on their progress. Semester end examinations are held every 5-6 months preceded by internal assessments. Dissertation reports are assessed by industry experts and business leaders. The examinations are moderately difficult with papers built out of value based questions.
Internships Opportunities :
Students of the penultimate year become eligible for Internships. Companies like Outlook and many from the Financial Services arena recruit student interns every summer. Some internships are unpaid and some may range from INR 3000-5000 per month based on performance. Roles like Salesperson, Financial Analysts and Business Development Executives are offered. Tasks for an intern include cold-calling, customer service management, social media marketing, promoting and data entry and analysis.
Placement Experience :
Final Semester students become eligible for campus placement drives. Companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Indigo, Byju's, Tata Consultancy Services, Aditya Birla and many more visit the campus to recruit students for different roles at their organizations. Job profiles range from Data Analysts, Sales Executives, Marketing Managers to Software Engineers, Financial Analysts and IT Managers. The average package for a Major ranges from around INR 20,000 to INR 30,000. The value increases in the case of postgraduates. The highest package offered was around INR 50 L, by Amazon, several years back.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees structure looks moderately expensive but the value for money is good. With all the provisions made available, the investments made are guaranteed for fruitful returns. The fees for the first two years are around INR 92,500 but increases to around INR 96,500 with specialization in the third year. The scholarship opportunities are brilliant, praising and assisting students for their creditable performances. Scholarships are offered for both students with sports quota and students with commendable scores in their boards examination. The scholarship can be continued in subsequent semesters if the performances in the examination value up to top 10% The placement cell provides LORs for students to assist them in their internships and jobs. I was able to avail a 50% academic scholarship for all of my three years at Amity University.
Campus Life :
The Campus Life is aesthetically pleasing and wholesome. The annual fest, Amiphoria usually takes place during late February or early March, and brags a participation of over 60 colleges from around the city with DJ nights featuring celebrities adorning the programs. There are a multitude of top books available for ready reference with access to hundreds of digital libraries. Classrooms are designed with air conditioning, good lighting and ventilation, smart boards and security cameras. Charger sockets are embedded with every seat to make it easy for students to work on their personal devices. There is a sports complex that holds games like Tennis, Table Tennis, Basketball, Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Athletics and lots more. Every year, Sangathan is held as an annual sports fest uniting all the Amity Universities, both the domestic ones and global ones. An array of clubs like Debate Club, Theater Clubs, Dance Clubs, Entrepreneurship Club are run by students councils.
Admission :
Merit as well as Entrance Examination followed by an interview
Interview Experience :
Students with merit and those eligible for scholarship opportunities go through a simple personal interview. However for the entrance examinations, papers are designed on practical based MCQ type questions covering a wide range of subjects like Current Affairs, General Knowledge and Logical Reasoning.
