My Review

Remarks :

Good remark is that - the management plays a good role in building a student personally. Each of the students has personal mentor assigned who looks after the growth of the students. We have brainstorming session which are helpful. Also, there is a counselor available for students for mental stability. Bad remarks - they should expand their accomodations services and rooms are less and its on first on come basis.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The college offers it's course on a trimester basis. Each trimester we have different number of subjects. The subject criterion is divided into 60 marks for external and 40 marks for internal which is further divided into 20 marks for presentation and 20 marks for written test. The pedagogy include theoritical knowledge as well as practical knowledge, depending on subject to subject. In some subject, where industry exposure is necessary, the institute take the students on immersions, industrial visits etc. In the first month of admission, during the foundation, immersions happen which are mandatory to attend. This lays a better outlook for a student to understand industry from day one only. Apart from that, visits keep on happening whenever required according to the subjects.

Placement Experience :

Placements drive occur two times a year, first is for the First years for summer placements that is called internships and the second drive for the executive placements that is for the final years for a job. In my course, many media companies visits the college for summer placements as well as executive placements. Like - Viacom18, Zee, Star TV, Fashion Tv, Turner Media, Bytedance, IAMAI, Amazon, HDFC bank, Estee Lauder, Morgan Stanley, GEP, Reliance Retail, Indian Oil and many more. Our institute have a central placements. Which means, irrespective of the streams one is studying in, he or she can apply to any companies coming for placements. That means, I, being a media student can also apply for the HDFC bank, if the roles suits me or I want to. Percentage of students placed every year is 98%. General step follow to apply for a company is that you have to apply for the company on the college portal, then you have to submit the resume on the portal itself, after shortlisted by the company you have to appear for the GD/Interviews rounds, and so forth. The institute prepares the students beforehand. This preparations include the AC/DC process, that is assessment centre and development center where students on trained on their capabilities. Apart from that regular mock interviews and Mock GDs are scheduled.

College Events :

Major annual event that happens every year is IMPACT that is the inter colleges cricket tournament. More than 20 colleges takes part on this and this happens on a very great level. Another event is WEBIZ fest, which is business level competition across different Bschools. There is also an event called "Friends of India" to felicitate the efforts of individuals who have distinctly contributed to the Socio-Economic and Cultural development of India across the globe.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee for two years is 11 lakhs which is paid on installments of 2. 75 lakhs across 2 years. There is a library deposit of 4000 which is refundable. No other additional fee to secure the seat, once you are cleared through all the rounds, you have to go on the given date, and pay the fee their. Yes the college provides transparency in the fee breakdown.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is no scholarship provided but you can take education loan from different banks. The bank requires certain documents from the college like admission confirm receipt, etc and some of your personal documents and it can avail it. Just visit to your nearby bank.

Campus Life :

Gender ration would be 60:40, males: females. There are different labs like INNOWE- the innovation lab, RedEx - innovation lab 2, Agricultural lab - for rural students, IT lab- for computer and other things. We have 2 library also, with lots of database for students to access.

Hostel Facilities :

No, I have not opted for hostel. There is boys hostel, and for girls the hostel is in renovation. Until then, they have provided different flats and girls usually share in 2/3/4 seatings. The flats are under supervision of college administration.

Alumni/Alumna :

We have a Alumni Club where each and every alumni is invited to remain connected. Also, we have an alumni meet every year where all alumni would gather and celebrate.

Admission :

I wanted to pursue management in media and Entertainment. For this stream, there are not many colleges in India. Welingkar being a good one in this stream, I had applied for it. So there are basically two mediums for admission - 1) Through your CAT/XAT/CMAT/ATMA, with different cutoffs. Followed by around of GD and Interview. 2) It takes admissions through certificates. This means if you have certificates of high level, in any stream, Welingkar can offer you a chance to go directly to the GD and Interview round. However, one should have taken any of the above exams.

Faculty :

The faculty includes both visiting faculty and permanent faculty. Visiting faculty are mainly the experienced people from the industry. For example, Amit Behl, is our professor, for media, who is an expert in field of entertainment. As far as qualifications is considered, the associate professors are also either MBA with much experience or PhD. Average age of faculty would be around 35- 40years. The credits pedagogy the institute follows is having 2 types of subjects. First is 3 credits subject which have 15 lectures per subject. Second is 1. 5 credit subjects which have only 8 lectures per subject.

From trimester 4, students are eligible for placements. Every year, top pharmaceutical corporations pay visits to institutions. Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, market research, consulting, IT healthcare verticals, diagnostics, medical communication, nutraceuticals, and other related healthcare sectors are just a few of the industries where students might find work. Sales, marketing, business analysis, project management, client servicing and business development, international marketing, and operations are among the job profiles they pursue. Every year, the most expensive bundles change. Companies give PPOs to high-performing employees.

Placement Experience:

There is a summer internship after the first 3 trimesters where companies come for interviews and roles depend on the company that selects you. It is for 2-3 months usually and is compulsory ie a part of the curriculum to complete to qualify for the degree. Same for final placement, interviews begin after the 4th trimester is done. More than 50 companies came to campus for final placement and highest package given was 11.2 lakhs and average was 8.8 lakhs which depended on the company and the job role. Roles are offered for consulting, IT, media, manufacturing and banking and finance roles of HR Generalist, HR Business Analyst and Talent Acquisition. Companies such as Godrej, IndusInd bank, TCS, Zee, Meru, Capstone, etc were the prominent companies for the final placement. 100% placement was achieved for the HR specialization.

Students sit for their Summer placements from the 2nd Trimester onwards. NM has a trimester system. A total of 181 companies visited the campus for the Summers of 2020-22 batch. 28 of them were from Fortune 500 companies and 90 new recruits. The total number of offers made was roughly 650-700 and still counting. The highest stipend was 3 lakhs and the average stood at 1.2 lakhs. Top 50 offers clocked an average of 2.48 lakhs. The different profiles for which the companies came were IT analytics, Consulting, E-commerce, BFSI, FMCG, FMCD, Retail, Pharmaceutical, Media & Telecom, Logistics, oil, and gas, etc. NMIMS Mum has 100% placement records. After doing my MBA I plan to go back to Corporate and learn and implement at the workplace. Thereby have self-growth and also bring revenues to the company.

They do have a placement committee. Most of my classmates are already placed at top-notch brands and agencies through the placement cell. Post 9 months, we have to do a mandatory internship to get hands-on experience of the industry life and work culture.
