Loyola college, Chennai is an autonomus institution, which means that the entire coirse curriculum and teaching methodology, can be devised by the college itself. Due weightage is given to continuous internal assessment of the student in addition to the end-semester examination apart from practical examination, wherever possible.
Placement Experience :
Loyola College, Chennai has a full feldged students placement centre, wherein all the final year UG and PG students, can apply to many leading Indian Companies for suitable openings. Infact, after completing my PG in Stats, from Loyola College. Chennai, I could get campus placement in a leading autimobile company, Tata Motors, in the year 1996.
College Events :
Down Sterling" is one of the highly regarded Annual Cultural festival held in Loyola College, Chennai. And also, many other inter-collegiate competition and many events take place in this college throughout the academic year and also sports events, are also conducted.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Loyoyla College, Chennai fees structure is very nominal among all the leading colleges in India. Also, each student has to pay the college fees every semester and also the exam fees every semester. All the fees have to be paid only through in-campus bank counter. There is total transparency in the fees to be paid and also complete fee-breakdown is given to all the students.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I did not avail any scholarship during my UG and PG studies. Usually. the college scholarships are very few and are only available to the economically weak student.
Campus Life :
Loyola College, Chennai is a Gents College for all the UG Streams, but for some streams in PG, Girls are also admitted. Many Foreign students and other state students also take admission into this college, regularly. This college has got a massive, open, green campus in the heart of the Chennai City. Also, it has got a huge library containing books on various topics and various sports fields and also a Chapel, inside the campus.
Hostel Facilities :
In-Campus Hostel facilites are available for all the students, which provides spacious rooms and quality food, to all its inmates. In Some years, due to high demand students may get allotment into hostel. I was a day-scholar. There are also good PGs available near the college.
Alumni/Alumna :
Alumni Association of Loyola College, Chennai is very strong with massive network across the Globe. They contibute monetarily to the college, from time-to-time, in terms of providing Scholarships, to the needy students pursuing various UG and PG courses in this college.
Admission :
Bssically, the UG course admission into Loyola College, Chennai is done on the basis of the students 12th Standard Exam Marks. If the student has scored more than 90%, especially in the core subjects then the stident has a very good chance of joining this Prestigious Institution in Chennai, based on the Merit.
Faculty :
I did my B. Sc(Stats) from 1991-94 and my M. Sc(Stats) from 1994-96 and during those time, we had good no. Lecturers who have completef atleast M. Phil and some were Ph. D. All the lecturers had very good in-depth knowledge on their subjects and were able to give insights of the subjects to the students.
