Pranshu Kashyap's Review On IIT BHU - Indian Institute Of Technology, Varanasi

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course structure is designed in such a way that if anyone loves research he will enjoy and if someone wants to develop another skills out of the box he will also get enough time to develop those. Thus students from this college do great in their life. Their are 5 Working Days a Week including Theory and Labs. B.Tech Students are required to do Internship during 3rd Year and IDD have choice of doing it in both 3rd as well as 4th Year, which provides relevant Industrial Skills. Besides Interships college organises regular Seminars and Workshops for Students to make learn required Industrial skills.

College Events :

The Campus Life of IIT(BHU) is amazing. One can never get bored in its immense beauty. Since IIT(BHU) Varanasi is home to many Clubs and Events, hence it has 7 councils where students participate to build up their skills and contribute to college which includes Science and Technology Club, Sports council, Cultural Club, E-Cell, Film and Media council. Also, every council has many clubs where one can learn. Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

IIT(BHU) provides fee remission to students having a low family income. 100% Tuition Fee Waiver to ST/SC/PWD Students. Full Remission on Tuition Fees to General/OBC Students whose Family Income is Below 1 Lacs per Annum. Apart from this, there are several endowment scholarships including Benco-64, IIT(BHU)-76 Batch Alumni Scholarships, MEC-97, Jag Mohan and Manju Bansal Scholarships, etc. which are offered by the Institute for the students. All the students (non-sponsored) admitted to M.Tech./M.Pharm programs are provided financial Assistance equivalent to the Junior Research Fellowships. For undergraduate students, some other facilities are also provided like free studentship, scholarship, reimbursement of mess charges, and pocket allowances to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes students. For the students admitted to Ph.D. programs, for them, the institute offers a large number of Junior/Senior Research Fellowships.

Hostel Facilities :

Since the college is 100 years old thus infrastructure is bit old and currently have 19 Hostels. There are basically two kinds of hostels, new ones and the old ones. The old ones were constructed like some 60–70 years ago. They have huge well maintained lawns inside them. The newer ones were constructed afterwards. The rooms in these hostels are much better than old hostels, though the lawns inside them are much smaller.

Placement Experience:

The placement is very good in my college. From the 7th semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. Many companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Mahindra etc do visit my college. The highest package is 16 lacs per annum and the average package is 4 lacs per annum. 95 % of students of the batch get placement every year. My plan is to get a placement in a product-based company after completing my degree.

In this college, there is 100 percent placement of all students. But some students choose to take admission in post-graduation. Post-graduation course is not available in this college due to University policy.
