Remarks :
I got admission at Greater Kolkata College Of Engineering and Management through WBJEE, 2014. My admission process got completed by the end of July 2014. Major reasons for selecting this college was that college campus was near to my home. This college is under the JIS Group, which is one of the leading Educational Groups in west Bengal. Feedback from the passed out students was very positive in terms of its Academics and placement scenario.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose BTech in Civil Engineering as I had a keen interest in this subject right from the beginning. For every 10 students there was 1 Faculty. All the faculties were highly qualified and from leading institutes of our country. They used to guide us so well that made what I am today, a successful engineer working for a leading construction company. The term examinations used to happen in a regular manner and those exams were designed in such a way so that we had to face challenge in every step so that we can excel in life in the future.
Internships Opportunities :
Students get various internship projects with stipend in various public and private companies. I got the chance to do the summer internship programme in a Government project which was arranged by my college.
Placement Experience :
Generally, after the completion of Semester 6, students become eligible to appear for the placement interviews. In my batch, at least one placement offer was made for each candidate. The highest package was offered was 5.6 lacs per annum for the Department of Computer Science & Engg whereas from my department (CE) the highest package offered was 4.7 lacs per annum. It was found that around 3 lacs per annum was the overall package offered in our batch. Students get recruited as Assistant Engineer or Junior manager from various companies that made the recruitment in our time. Even the same trend continues nowadays also. I am already working as a Senior Engg at an MNC after completion of my BTech study from my college.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The total fees for my Btech course were really pocket friendly. Many of friends got scholarships under various schemes. College offers scholarships to that student who have scored well in the board examinations and during the semester examinations. I got placed in Pinnacle Infotech Solutions from the campus interview process for which I received various placement related training before the placement starts.
Campus Life :
Normally the cultural fest "Echo" held in the month of April and the technical fest "Technics" in the month of March or April with an awesome arrangement. Availability of books and various national and the international journal is enough and up to date. Proper seating arrangements with installations of various electronics presentation requirements are a common picture in every classroom. Smart Classroom has become a common feature nowadays for the education which we experienced during our time of college. Annual sports normally held during the month of January every year in our lush green sports ground every year. Apart from that various sports were a common activity one can find at the college campus with proper arrangements of various indoor and outdoor games. Students can engage themselves in various extra curriculum activity related clubs such as photography club, nature club, robotics club etc.
