Jhuma Roy's Review On Zee Institute Of Media Arts - [ZIMA], Kolkata

Zee Institute of Media Arts helps various students with dreams of films in their hearts to pursue it and bring themselves a recognition in the media industry. They set a pathway to attain our passion as profession and innumerous number of students have benefitted from it.

With total of 1000 hours of classes, the distribution of this is done as around 144 classroom training, 48 film appreciation sessions and also, 48 practical sessions to get field experience. Our examinations are making 3 films during theb course time and a final documentary which is similar to semester exams to us.

ZIMA brings in amazing oppurtunities for its students in media industry. Some of the media industries that came in for placements are, Zee Tv, Star Plus, Times Now, Sony, Reliance media works etc to provide us a career in Indian film industry.

For this film making program of 12 months duration, the fee is around Rs.1,38,000. This is a bit on the expensive side. For the training and practical sessions they conduct and also for the companies they bring in for placement, this fee amount seems to be worth it.

Our Zee Film Club is driven with the motivation of bringing in the films and filmakers for us to know and get inspired from their stories. The movies/documentaries which could not be released in theatres, but are to be must-seen are screened by zee film club in our campus. This has been done for several national award winning movies.

After completing my undergraduation in Visual communication, I was clear about making my career in film making. Hence, I applied for film making program in ZIMA and had the previlige of getting selected for the course.

Our faculty and mentor has rich expertise in this field and their experience motivates us further to work hard to live our dream of becoming a film maker. The skills they make us develop within ourselves drives us one step closer to our dream each day.
